About this project
Bent Hill Brewery is a soon to be operational brewery located in Braintree, Vermont. We’ve come from lifting buckets of wort in our garage, to constructing a 20x20 brewing operation on our land that is currently 50% complete. The funding raised in this Kickstarter campaign will be used to complete the construction of the brewery as well as purchase three new kettles, a control panel, pumps, tubing and chillers.
What does this mean for you?Bent Hill Brewery started in our parents garage as a hobby, but has developed into a full blown passion. Our passion not only lies in our crafts, but in the local community around us. Our goal is not to simply sell as much beer as we can, but to provide those closest to us in Orange County Vermont with crafts they can call their own.
Our beer is wanted from Boston to Portland, and our Lavender porter was recently named the best tasting beer at the Arts Riot homebrew tasting. But we wish to first aptly supply our home, before considering anything further.
Your donations will help jump-start a passionate micro-brewery, that will forever open it's doors to Vermonters and their guests.
As a thank you for your donations, we have prearranged a collection of gifts we think you'll enjoy too.
About our Beers
Our passion to satisfy the local craft beer market has led to us experimenting with such ingredients as juniper berries and chaga, to lavender, and chocolate mint.
We love to create unique beers using non-traditional ingredients and mixtures in search of the next great craft.
Our Flag-Ship Beers
- Vienna Blonde Ale - Our play off a vienna lager, smooth, slight taste of vienna malt.
- India Pale Ale - Not your standard IPA, this recipe was created to appreciate the grains and flavors placed in an IPA without using copious amounts of hops to hide external flavors.
- Coconut Porter - This porter is created to embody the profile of coconut while eliminating the additional extreme sweet and flavor tendency associated with coconut. * Brewers Choice
- Maple Irish Red Ale – Bent Hill’s rendition of an Irish Red Ale, brewed with local maple syrup

Risks and challenges
Our largest obstacles involve permitting the brewery. This includes state licensing for manufacturing, retail sale, and distribution. Building assembly and construction is easy, but having the patience for permitting is essential in this process. We will overcome this by staying diligent and focusing on the permitting required for our brewery. Once this completed we will open with tastings, allowing locals as well new comers from far to taste Bent Hill Brewery and put it up to the test.
The second challenge that we will face is producing for a local market, our goal at Bent Hill Brewery is to provide the local markets with the exact products that they want. We will achieve this by developing relationships with our neighbors and local merchants, through face to face interactions, and events and tastings.
We want the local communities surrounding Bent Hill to know that we are there to provide to them first.
The third and last challenge that we face if this project is funded, challenging the Vermont competition. We will overcome this by delivering the highest quality and unique brews that will match or surpass some of Vermont's finest establishments.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We are currently the third Orange Country Vermont brewery to open; however will be the only operating brewery in Orange County.
Most recently, Vermont Beer Company opened in 2010 in Bradford and went out of business in 2012.
A bit older is the Tunbridge Quality Ales (opened in Tunbridge and later moved to South Royalton) was around from ~1996-2000.
