Hi everyone! Thanks for checking out my deck of custom-illustrated playing cards. I developed this deck as a response to “Inktober,” a daily ink-drawing challenge founded by Jake Parker. The cards are loosely based on the following ideas:
This deck is already full funded—hurray! See below for some fun stretch goals:
1. UNLOCKED! If we can hit 100 decks sold, I'll notch up the paper quality for all pledges from Smooth 300 gsm to Linen 310 gsm. This upgrade improves the light-proof core of the cards, and provides better handling via embossed air pockets. MPC calls it French casino-quality card stock. Hurray!
2. UNLOCKED! If we can reach $3,000 I'll design a custom seal for the lid of the deck's tuck box. Something untamed, yet regal!
3. UNLOCKED! If we can reach $4,500 I'll include a special 6-sided z-fold booklet with every deck. The booklet will have one custom drawing and a larger print of the custom seal design, plus a thank-you credits list featuring all backers by first and last name (if desired). If we unlock this one I'll send out more details in a backers' poll after the funding window closes.
I'll be printing the cards through MakePlayingCards.com. You'll receive a full 54-card deck of standard poker-size playing cards with red and black suits. I've revealed the designs for all the face cards and aces on the page above, and hinted at the jokers, card back, and custom box design in my welcome video. The remaining number cards will also be hand-drawn, but without illustrations.
I've determined my financial goal based on the following costs for producing and selling 54 decks of cards (all numbers approximate):
Damaged / lost in mail: $50
Kickstarter payment processing: $43
Kickstarter fee: $54

Risks and challenges
Good news, friends! There are virtually zero challenges with this endeavor, since all of the illustrated cards are designed and ready to go.
Your only possible risk is hiccups with printing and shipping which may cause a slight delay.
P.S. Big thanks to Gabe Weitzman for his help with my welcome video, and for providing the background music. You're the best!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
