This is the slogan for our newest series of Artistry Playing Cards. We proudly refer to this as the "Perspective Series".
The concept... one unique theme as seen from two different artists. In the case of Diabolique Engines, it was gears, pulleys, clockworks, and steampunk inspired. Each artist then disappears for a while and designs what they want their deck to look like. This can give us wildly different looks and feels from each designer. Then we set aside various key elements (like the main font and pip style) and those will be used within both decks giving it some symmetry and continuity.
This is the main reason why the decks are being sold together as one collectors set, because we feel that each deck is just part of a whole picture. You need to have both decks to get the full effect for what we are striving for.
Diabolique Engines is presented to you as a very unique and special "Collectors Set". This set comes with two 54 card Poker Decks, which we lovingly call "Glow" & "Shine". Each has 310 GSM, Linen Finish and comes on Black Core card stock for the highest quality. We crafted these decks with customized Pips, Suits and Fonts and hand laid artwork for each card. Continue below for more information on the decks that are in the Collectors Set.
When I set out to make my deck of gears, I knew that I wanted it to be colorful in a very hypnotic sort of way. Like you were looking at a bright neon sign glowing in the darkest night. I also didn't want it to look like a conventional "engine" where everything had a proper place and alignment. It needed to be more chaotic and free flowing. -Steven Fields

My approach to this project went the more traditional route. When I think of gears or "engines"... it brings me back to all those classic looking hand crafted Swiss watches and clockworks from a time long passed. That was my starting inspiration on this deck. Very detailed looking gears that have a specific place & function, one of a kind masterful etched patterns, and of course, all those beautiful shiny golds and silvers. -Greg "Jazzy Bear" Brown
"SHINE" Deck Insights #1: The lower numbered cards contain just a single gear and the holes inside represent its number.
"SHINE" Deck Insights #2: The higher numbered cards contain two gears and the holes inside represent its number.
"SHINE" Deck Insights #3: The court cards contain different etchings, gears, movements, holes in the center represents its suit.
"SHINE" Deck Insights #4: Each ace contains its own unique filigree and look.
"SHINE" Deck Insights #5: The jokers contain their own unique style, as well as, the deck and company logos.
"SHINE" Deck Features:
- 4 different looking and unique card styles inside the deck
- Hand drawn, highly intricate etchings on all cards

This is our Special Edition deck, which we call Radiant. It is an entirely separate deck from what is in our main Collectors Set. It can be purchased in our DE5 pledge tier (SPECIAL EDITION DELUXE COLLECTORS SET) or as an Add-On. This is a re-imagining of the two main decks or a mash-up, but it takes on a whole new look with lots of bright shimmering colors and contrasting metallics. It uses the High Gloss ink feature that makes various parts of the cards jump out at you in a interesting quasi 3D way. Very cool and very different looking. We will only be printing as many as we sell during this campaign. So it will be very limited and a true collectors piece.
This is just a small sampling of the cards that are in the High Gloss deck. The examples below are just to show how different these cards will be when compared to the other two decks in the Diabolique Engines series.
This video shows off the difference between a Regular card and a High Gloss card. The High Gloss is one or more raised, full colored, high gloss areas on a card. Of the six examples the 1st and the 2nd show the full colored and the rest show selected sections picked for style and design.
"RADIANT" Deck Features:
- Entire deck has beautiful ornate colors to give it a jeweled effect
- All new number cards with dual gears
- Deck features the High Gloss ink for a shimmering quasi 3D feel
- Back of the card designed with all new intricate etchings
- Tuck box has an all new design
This is our Diabolique Engines Antique Gold 1¾ inch custom 3D engraved Collectors Coin. It can be used as a dealer button, card guard and also fits with our "Exclusive" 2GG X2 Carat Card Case for a phenomenal display piece. The front side features large and small gears with numerous suits around the edge. The back features the name of the deck/coin, the slogan (One Theme - Two Visions), the series (Persepective Series), our card style (Artistry Cards), and finally our company name (TwoGeeksGaming).
We will only be making 100 of these coins... unless of course we get more orders during the campaign. This will be the only time the coin is made and we will never have it reprinted. $13
We worked hand in hand with Sherman at Carat Card Cases™ to bring you a very unique "Exclusive" 2GG X2 Carat Card Case that was designed for our Diabolique Engines campaign. This special case has the ability to display both the Collectors Set Decks, as well as, the Collectors Coin all within the one case. A special lid was created where the coin just sets inside a precut hole. Just pop the decks in the case, place the coin into the lid and you will have a case that shows off everything in one awesome place. $18
If you look at the two tuck boxes together... they make a single gear image & this is the same image that is on the front of our coin, which makes for a rather cool 3D effect when all put together.
We have partnered with Carat Card Cases™ to bring you, what in our own opinions, are the absolute best card display cases on the market today. If you are a collector, then these are a MUST HAVE item to display your precious decks. All of their cases are made from completely crystal clear acrylic materials, 5mm thick with nice beveled edges, and are extremely well built to protect your items. Very sturdy and just beautiful to look at. Each of these cases comes in two pieces (the case and the lid). The lid is secured to the case with neodymium magnets. These are 10x stronger than normal magnets.
We have these in 3 sizes (X1, X2, or X3)...
- X1 = Holds 1 Deck of Cards: 3.1 in x 4.1 in x 1.26 in $13
- X2 = Holds 2 Decks of Cards + 2 in Coin: 5.87 in x 4.1 in x 1.26 in $18
- X3 = Holds 3 Decks of Cards: 8.55 in x 4.1 in x 1.26 in $21
Add a "Glow" Uncut Sheet or a "Shine" Uncut Sheet to your pledge. Printed on 310 GSM paper stock and measuring 20 in x 29.5 in. Ships to you in a hardened card board tube for extra protection. These make great framed pieces of art to hang on any wall. You can specify either the Glow or the Shine uncut sheet after the campaign ends. $40
TWO NEW PLEDGE TIERS
We added 2 new pledge tiers. "Collectors Set" for international backers. "Card Case Collector" for those U.S. backers that just wanted to get cases and that's all.
There is a nice article on Max's site regarding our campaign. Please check it out.
WHERE IS THE INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING?
UPDATE: Today 06/09/16, we added a new pledge tier for our international backers. Please see DE2-INTL on the right side for more information.
To be perfectly honest... the costs are so outrageous to ship anything to other countries that it isn't even funny. Especially for smaller companies like 2GG. It really has tripled within the last 12-18 months. This tier is slightly more expensive to ship, but we made every effort to keep it as inexpensive as we possibly could.
Risks and challenges
We have done a lot of research and reviewed several companies to ensure that this project runs as smoothly as possible. All the artwork, designing, planning, and budgeting have been completed. MPC has already given us the thumbs up for moving onto production. We just need to give them the final artwork & funds for manufacturing.
The only risk now is Natural disasters or acts of God... or possibly an unexpected issue with our manufacturer. Which we honestly don't see happening, as we have used MPC for our last several campaigns and all has gone smoothly. We have set the delivery date conservatively so as to not rush the production of the product & we have full confidence on moving into production.
We will post regular updates, so you can keep track of every stage of Diabolique Engines and see it come to life.
