Tabletop Potluck was born when a diverse group of friends found themselves wishing for more representation in their actual-play podcasts. The team chose to be the change they wished to see in the world, striving to showcase representation in all forms: players, characters, and games. Just like at a delicious potluck, different people can bring a vast variety of experiences to the table. Now, every Monday, Tabletop Potluck brings diverse stories to their listeners, as well as in-depth sessions and discussions of various tabletop roleplaying games.
Our episodes go a bit like this: we play a game on air, usually for the first time ever for at least one member, and then we all create a smorgasbord of recipes related to the game's themes and discuss what we like and dislike about the systems. With both examples of gameplay and reviews, we hope to give our listeners everything they might need to decide to try a brand new RPG.
We're so thankful for all of the support we've gotten so far and we can't wait to continue this journey with you all.
If you haven't heard us before, you can listen at http://www.tabletoppotluck.com or wherever else you get your podcasts.
To get a taste of what we do, here are some highlights from Season 1:
The main suggestion we have received from our listeners is improved audio quality. Since the beginning, we've been doing everything we can to bring high-quality episodes, but we have come to realize that there's only so much you can do with just one microphone. This Kickstarter will help us revamp our entire sound system by giving each player their own mic. With individual microphones and added sound proofing, we'll be able to cut out more room noise and really bring up the focus on whoever is talking. This is exactly what we need to bring the best show we possibly can.
Every dollar raised will go towards this equipment. If we are lucky enough to surpass it, we have a few extra goals in mind (listed further down on the page). Don't worry though, if we end up somewhere between those two goals, any residual funds will be put towards either our hosting fees or purchasing transcripts so we can speed up the process of making our show even more accessible
"This group is a pure delight to listen to. Everyone has such fun characters and the energy between them is infectious. They get you smiling, they get you invested, and they get you feeling."
"This is such a great Actual Play RPG because listening to this group play is like listening to your friends play. They care about the games they are playing, but it seems like their #1 priority is just having fun. Whenever they play a new game and create new characters, they create fully rounded people.. and then just have fun with them."
"I've listened to a ton of actual plays, and this group definitely has a chemistry missing from a lot of others."
We have decided to add a bonus gift to all tiers! Every backer will now receive a beautifully compiled collection of all of our favorite Potluck recipes from the show!
Don't have the cash to make us all eat a food of your choice? Want to force Noa and Marquez to eat mushrooms or see the ridiculous faces Megan makes when she tastes alcohol or spicy foods? You can add a bit to your pledge to make one of our cast members eat whatever you choose!* See everyone's prices below!
*Must be edible (actual human food and not inherently going to make someone ill) and a reasonable cost for how much the player asks for.
Buy a shirt! We got some gorgeous designs from our friends at Endless Realms based on our run of the system. These and our typical logo shirts are available! Add $25 to your pledge to get the shirt of your choice! Shipping will be added at the time of the pledge manager.
As we reach goals past the initial $650, we want to bring you some fun challenge videos! As shown in the image below, we're also hoping to buy some soundproofing and video equipment. As we hit these goals, we'll send all backers exclusive videos of us eating some of the strangest foods we could find.
Risks and challenges
Risks may include snacking on too many delicious recipes, laughing too hard, and falling in love with a character that can't stay nearly long enough.
For anything being shipped out, we are absolutely confident that the local printers we are working with will allow the products to be sent out on time.
Please keep in mind that if you back at any level that gives you an NPC, these NPCs may take a few months to be released on the show. We want all of these characters to have an awesome role in their arc, so we can only do a couple per system.
If we are GMing a system for you, this will be given as soon as you and the GM of your choice are both available!
