BIRDS and ARROWS New Record!
Over the past year Birds and Arrows (Andrea, Pete and Josh) have been writing and home recording a whole new batch of songs for our third full length release and are super excited about them. We are almost finished with these recordings and need your help to take us the rest of the way. The money we raise will go toward mixing, mastering and manufacturing this new full length record.
To tell you a bit about these new songs, we feel that they embrace the spirit of Andrea and Pete's original collaborative efforts as Birds and Arrows while also creating a new more focused sound. With the expanded creative input of cellist and multi-instrumentalist Josh Starmer and the musical experience gained touring we are confident these new songs embody our best effort as a band to date.
Our starting goal for this project is $5,000. With your help we hope to meet and even exceed this goal. Any money above and beyond this goal will be sure to further expand the quality and scope of this musical project.

The group was formed in 2007 by husband and wife Andrea and Pete Connolly who released 2 critically acclaimed EPs. The first eponymous EP documents the strained conditions under which the two first met, while “Woodgrain Heart” tells of how the two grew together. Grayson Currin praised “Woodgrain Heart” as “complementary voices wrapping together in rustic contentment and comfort, like a happy pair making music because that’s how love makes them feel.” Josh joined the group on cello during the recording of the band’s first full length record “Starmaker” in 2009, expanding the narrative to describe tales of coming of age while still remaining intensely personal. Upon its release, “Starmaker” was picked by the Independent Weekly as the “Album of the Month”. In 2011 the band released it's latest record titled "We're Gonna Run" which was highly regarded as "best moment of the band’s career, a promise that they’ve got real range.” by Grayson Currin of Independent Weekly. The record was also described as
“The honeymoon sweetness of their earlier work has been replaced with a maturity and depth appropriate for musicians whose lives and work are gaining seriousness and acclaim.” by Frank Stasio of NPR's "The State of Things".
Birds and Arrows is currently working on their third full length record which is due for release in the upcoming summer of 2012. This new material promises to be their strongest to date. By reflecting on the simplicity of their past and incorporating their experience as an active touring band.
