Seventeen Uncles: A Pug's Life is a Point n' Click adventure game inspired by the bold Lucasarts titles such as “Sam n Max Hit the Road” with a surreal visual style inspired by striking 90’s cartoons such as “Rocko’s Modern Life” and modern classics such as “Adventure Time.”

I plan on releasing the game in Q4 2015 on PC, MAC & LINUX

You star as Kirk the pug, a happy family pup and Grub Relations Executive in the local bee-run honey factory whos life is turned upside down when a deal with the Devil goes horribly wrong following the death of his darling wife Dilys. Your quest to win back her soul takes you to amazing locations such as a tattoo studio run by an octopus, a rocket launch site manned by an axolotl astronaut and a massive termite mound cut off from the rest of the world since the end of the great war with the ants. These and dozens more of locations are populated by crazy characters such as occult armadillos, pub crawling sloths, stink selling bats, taxi driving dung beetles and many many more.
My goals for this project are:
1. To make a fun game.
Funny dialog, engaging puzzles, bold graphics and exciting and unexpected surreal locations and characters which make you want to play on to see just what lies around the next corner.
2. To NEVER become too cryptic or frustrating.
Nothing stinks more than an adventure game where you end up randomly using all your items with everything in the game in an attempt to progress. I've tried to make the puzzles to be logical with the fun cartoon nature of the visuals, but in the event you run into a dead end you can consult the psychic tick that lives on your head "Miss Tick" who, in exchange for a little mammalian blood, will tell your future and give you some puzzle hints, starting as vague clues and if needed flat out puzzle solutions, you choose your level of spoiler!
3. Appeal to all ages.
I have very fond memories in my childhood of playing Lucusarts adventures, and just like those classics I wanted to appeal to gamers young and old. Just like the 90's cartoons I draw inspiration from I have designed the game to be family friendly without being too sickly sweet and boring, but not afraid to have some darker themes without resorting to excessive violence, gore or foul language.
If this sounds like something you would enjoy, please consider pledging.
The money will primarily be used to improve the quality and speed at which I can develop the rest of the game. I have developed the game thus far using fairly basic tools, my laptop and 2nd hand scanner and simple microphone picked up from ebay, as well as love and patience from my family. I am also currently using donated/licence free music, sound effects and software. What I'd like to do is get some better tools like a modern graphics tablet and a more professional microphone. I'd like to compensate Ryan Smith, the uber talented musician who has kindly donated all the music for the demo, and pay him to do all the music in the final release version.
Any remaining funds will go towards the various fees/expenses involved in making, marketing and developing an indie game such as software licences, greenlight & kickstarter fees, taxes and of course backer rewards. Speaking of which...

Seventeen Uncles: A Pug's Life is being developed solely by me, Jonathan Cheetham, a 33 year old Customer Relations Manager, husband, father of three and pug owner extraordinaire. I am doing all of the programming, artwork and the majority of the voice acting myself in my spare time, until this point entirely self funded.
How kind! First step would be to pledge. From there, the best way to help will be to vote on my Steam Greenlight below, and finally please share this Kickstarter with your friends and family via social media. The more traffic comes through this page the more likely it is to be funded!
Thank you very much for your support, It means the world to me and is massively appreciated.
Risks and challenges
This game is happening. It is a dream project of mine that I have loved developing and it will be completed in any circumstance. The only real risk I can foresee is a big life event, such as the apocalypse, causing a delay in development. I have made good steady progress on the game in my spare time thus far and don’t really foresee anything that would cause the game to not be completed.
pledge reward t&c's:
* any Ultimate pack (£1000) contributors have first choice of art and Contributor Pack (£300) donators will have second choice of any artwork, and remaining art requests will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
** limited to the following sizes: S M L XL
*** Pick one character in the game to be made into a crochet plushie, these are custom made by my wife in her spare time, It's fair to say you will receive your plushie within 3 months of making your choice known (feel free to wait for the full game release if you don’t want a character from the demo) however unforseen circumstances or lots of requests at once may result in a delay in the creation of your one-of-a-kind plushie.
**** any characters/locations must suit the setting and mood of the rest of the game and the game developer has final say in any elements of design. I will be very open, flexable and fair with your requests and do whatever I can to match your ideas as close as possible, however this is an opportunity at collaboration, not to dictate what appears in the game.
***** Has to be an original name (however parody is fine.) and nothing X-rated!
