Dear Kickstarter supporters, I can’t believe my embroidery mission impossible concluded this week, and we have sent off the last tee shirt! Thank you all, once again, for your patience. During the campaign, it became news to some of you that the theater was up for sale, which caused some concern that new buyers might change the direction of Don’s and my long-held intention to maintain The Rio as an accessible, community oriented movie house. When we saw that the fundraiser itself was generating interest from prospective buyers, it only served to redouble our commitment to sell only to someone dedicated to the same vision. Well, sure enough, a young couple, Christie George and Colin Mutchler, and friends, showed up for the Priscilla Queen of the Desert event and loved it. After that, they brought a group of investors up from San Francisco to hang out for the Peggy Sue Got Married event. (Colin even played music for it). Before we knew it, they had made an offer, and we are now pleased to announce that the theater has been bought by this wonderful group of friends and colleagues who are looking forward to establishing ties with the community and carrying on The Rio tradition. Welcome Rio Theater LLC! With the mailing of the tees, we can now announce that there is $11,700 left in our Save the Rio account to go toward improvements. Based on what the new buyers have heard from the community so far, they feel that the highest priority is the lack of heat. Don and I, and the Save the Rio Campaign committee, heartily support this first step and have agreed to identify that project as the planned use for the remaining Kickstarter funds. This will be my final update. From here, Christie and Colin would very much like to continue the connection we’ve established through Kickstarter. They plan to introduce the group of new owners through the theater’s new newsletter, which will keep everyone abreast of the latest movies, projects and events. For your convenience we will be migrating your Kickstarter email address to the theater’s existing calendar list, but know that you can opt out at any time. Also, it is possible that we don't have your address on file if you didn’t request a reward, in which case, we hope you will subscribe to the enews list at www.riotheater.com to follow The Rio’s exciting new chapter. I again want to thank each and every one of you for helping to save the Rio. The unbelievable outpouring of support was particularly humbling for Don and me. We could not have imagined how it all would end. With love and sincere gratitude to all, we bid you adieu. Suzi and Don Schaffert

I am just about finished with all of the T-shirts and am starting to pack them for shipping. I have a couple of questions because some people did come and pick them up already. I am not completely done with the extra-large T-shirts and am still working on those. If you have already picked up your T-shirt could you send me a quick email and let me know! Thanks so much! Suzi

Almost done!!!
