We made a film.
It’s a feature. It’s funny. And it’s finished. Please watch our official trailer below:
Again, "Tex Montana Will Survive!" is finished... And now we want to release it. As soon as this campaign ends. To everyone. Everywhere. All over the world.
All on the same day. All at the same time. For free. Forever and ever and ever, amen.
BUT—We need your help…
ABOUT THE FILM
When his reputation as the most famous and trusted TV survival host in the world is tarnished following allegations that his show is staged, Tex Montana attempts to clear his name by documenting himself surviving in the remote wilderness for thirty days, completely alone.
82 minutes | unrated (contains graphic language)
If our campaign is successful, we will erase the slow, staggered process typically necessary to bring a film to a worldwide audience, by releasing Tex Montana digitally (YouTube, Vimeo, download, torrent, etc.) via a creative commons license, in every territory, for free, almost immediately.
That means anyone, anywhere in the world, will be able to do just about anything they want with the movie. Examples include:
- Watch it!
- Re-watch it!
- Stubbornly refuse to watch it!
- Share it!
- Screen it at a quinceanera! (Or any other milestone celebration!)
- Re-edit it into an even better film!
- Burn it onto DVDs and BluRays (we’ll even supply printable artwork!) and give them to people who don’t know how to play videos on the interwebs!
ALL KIDDING ASIDE
This campaign is in part an effort to address the countless messages we received from amazing film fans across the globe, who were understandably frustrated with how long it took for our previous film, The Battery, to be made available in their countries.
It is also a reaction, to a very sobering—and demoralizing—reality we were made painfully aware of by the end of The Battery’s incredible journey:
It is incredibly difficult to make a living as an independent filmmaker.
A dramatic influx of films on the market—coupled with the rise of peer-to-peer sharing through torrent sites—has resulted in a drastic decrease in compensation for filmmakers across the board. Minimum Guarantees (MGs) are small and residuals trickle in over the course of years.
Our hope is that by taking a risk and eschewing the conventional distribution process, the result for both filmmaker and film fan will be mutually beneficial. Contributors will receive an immediate return on their generosity; and by cutting out the middlemen, we will see a higher return on our film in a much shorter time frame.
Because the film will be released without any restrictions, your contributions today will unlock the film for all to enjoy for all of eternity.
As a result of this campaign, we would be afforded something we were never able to achieve throughout the long release of our first film: Stability. Even a small window of which would allow us to step away from our day jobs long enough to get back to doing what we truly love. Making movies.
There’s no way around it, asking for your direct support is uncomfortable and intensely humbling.
The decision to try and release a film on our own is daunting, and frankly quite frightening.
But it’s also exciting.
We’re anxious to start a new journey, and we hope you’ll consider coming along with us.
It would be a glorious symbiotic relationship!
Like the goofy yet protective clownfish, and the loyal and supportive sea anemone!
We won’t let anything eat you, if you let us hide in your weird, stinging, tentacle-tube-type things when the big fish come round to eat us.
When all is said and done, if we make it through the month, you will have a pretty damn funny little film to watch.
You will also have gotten us so much closer than anyone else to finally answering the question we’ve been asked over and over, by so many wonderful people all over the world:
“When are you going to make another movie?”
WHO WE ARE
O. HANNAH FILMS is the three-headed troll responsible for the independent zombie film, The Battery. Made on a micro-budget of six thousand dollars, in fourteen days, with a crew of six; the film went on to play at over fifty festivals, winning more than a dozen jury and audience awards, and was featured on countless best-of horror lists. To date, the movie has been distributed in twenty-plus countries worldwide, and was released on DVD and BluRay in the U.S. by Scream Factory.

JEREMY GARDNER is a writer, director, actor, unemployed waiter, and answer to the question: “Who is that fat, bearded guy in that hipster zombie movie?” He co-directed and plays the titular idiot in TEX MONTANA WILL SURVIVE! Outside of his own films, he recently appeared in Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead’s (Resolution) SPRING, and Joe Begos’ (Almost Human) THE MIND’S EYE, and is hard at work waiting for any other amazing filmmakers to call and offer him work.
CHRISTIAN STELLA is a director, cinematographer, cookbook author and food photographer by trade. By necessity, force—and on occasion—threat of violence, he is also a colorist, editor, sound designer, mixer, producer, and reticent-but-bound-by-the-bonds-of-friendship roommate of Jeremy Gardner. He is the sole reason both THE BATTERY, and TEX MONTANA, look as though they had a hundred times their actual budgets.
ADAM CRONHEIM is an actor, producer, and real estate agent from New York City. Most notably in THE BATTERY, he somehow imbued the thankless role of Mickey with a relatable humanity before being saddled with an even more thankless role off-screen: Taking charge of the constant barrage of paperwork, releases, insurance, legal mumbo-jumbo and business affairs that most first-time filmmakers never think about while living their dream on set. He recently appeared in the post-apocalyptic vampire film, RED SPRING, set for release in 2016.
