We're raising funds so we can film, create, produce and publish a web-series/large library of both specific breathing, stretching, low-impact, and basic yoga exercises and routines that fight productivity lulls and sitting too long! And, we're challenging (unless you find that uncomfortable in which case we're politely asking :)) Kickstarter backers, worldwide, to invest $6 in yourself. Make your physical wellness a priority.
As mentioned in our video, in America, as an example, 86% of working professionals (probably you and me included) sit, on average, 13 hours of the day, mostly at our workspaces (Source: USNews). We get busy and forget how important it is to be physically active. We find it hard to take time to commute back and forth, work out, and shower, out of an already busy day. But we all know how important physical activity is, don't we?
Above all, Yaypo5 will always be simple, effective, and affordable. We've filmed some version 1.0 Yaypo5 videos. Now, we're looking to get serious and "professionalize" them. We've also recently partnered with a wellness platform that has over 2,000,000+ participants worldwide. 2 weeks ago, we delivered a webinar as part of their "Partner Spotlight" series. We're following up on some interesting prospects and keeping our fingers crossed!
Our service will email you videos twice a day every business day of the year for $6 (Sample email below). Six dollars. Look at your life. What if you baked in 10 minutes of light activity EVERYDAY you can do at your workspace? Experts say you need 150 minutes of physical activity per week. Yaypo5 covers 50 if you just follow 2 of our videos daily. With the money, we'll be able to create a large library so you can do one every hour if you like. Do one every hour and there you have your physical activity for the week!! All while NEVER leaving your workspace.
You can do them while reading this, talking on the phone, participating on a conference call, etc. Seriously.
Why fight reality? We're busy. We're stressed. We're locked down at our computers. We're focused. We can say we'll be more active all we want to. But we're not more active. Statistics don't lie. Yaypo5 is about physical and mental wellness for all of us.
We'll pull this business off because we're creating easy to follow, business day appropriate videos that won't make you sweat. They'll increase blood flow and engage your body...every time. It's not a workout. It's your ignition switch to physical and mental wellness and it might be the very most important thing you do for your physical health (besides eating and drinking water) ALL DAY! We're not suggesting we're the answer. We're just the ignition switch.
In case you were wondering, Yaypo stands for You And Your Physical-Wellness Opportunities.
Risks and challenges
We've been developing this idea for almost 18 months. We've done a ton of testing so we can execute and deliver on the promises we're making. One of the biggest challenges we've worked through over the past 6 months is around delivering the emails at the desired times. Science shows that we are experiencing low energy levels (due to blood glucose and insulin) between meals. Combined with the reality that most of us might have already been sitting at a desk for several hours, our goal is to, if at all possible, deliver the emails around 10am and 2pm. We've tested Mailchimp's timewarp technology for months now and it just isn't foolproof enough to be dependable. It's really cool. It's just not able to defend our 10am and 2pm email delivery requirement. So, recently we've been putting beta subscribers into 4 groups (one group for each time zone). This way, we send out 4 campaigns each morning (instead of one via timewarp) and schedule each one to go out so it's delivered at the appropriate time...or very close to it.
We've also worried about demand. We don't want to be a victim of our success. What if, we have a million subscribers (awesome problem by the way) and every hour, 250,000 of them (by time zone) hit our site at the same time? We'll hopefully be able to address that quickly but if we cannot for whatever reason, we host all our videos through Vimeo and will either temporarily, or for a longer term, send them straight to them. They have more than enough bandwidth to handle the traffic which helps us solve the most important question...will our subscribers be able to watch our videos dependablyl?
Speaking of demand, having read horror stories about backers not getting their stuff, we’re creating an internal Kickstarter protection policy where we pay, in advance, the 2 most critical and expensive expenses in our model: video hosting and mail delivery. Because these costs will already paid for, delivering the emails twice a day will not be a concern.
Early on, we also had issues with customizing the email so we can white label when we want to. Defining image fields solved that problem. We've also gotten feedback that we need to "upgrade" the demo video we've created. Finally, we got some real challenges around creating a dashboard that will allow subscribers to login, watch a video, record progress, track participation (both on the client side and participant side), and integrate a reward system. We're working on those things now, but not close to launching it. But, that will also be a premium subscription at a higher price. Once we get our videos created and published, we can launch our Yaypo5 wellness service. That's why we're here. We we're going to launch our service in November, but the money will help us film our library of stretches, breathing, low impact, and yoga exercises either in front of a green screen or with some pretty amazing backgrounds. Soothing audio and sounds will also be a bigger part of our Yaypo5 2.0 video series. We've got to get 1.0 out first though. These are some of the things we're learning. We'll face more challenges as we grow, but we have a brilliant technology guy who will know what to do. We're covered there. Our videos are definitely a work in progress. We appreciate your patience while we work to create the kind of videos most anyone can do in their work clothes and without changing anything about their existing daily routine.
