INTRODUCTION

Starship Farragut is an online webseries inspired by the original series of Star Trek, but instead of the crew of the Enterprise, it's the crew of the Farragut - simply put, "Different Ship, Different Crew and Different Adventures".

FUNDRAISER PURPOSE

The Starship Farragut production is a small, independent operation where every dollar received is plowed into the quality of the production. Given the growth and evolution of this project during the course of the last 10 years, particularly the expenses associated with the Farragut Films Studio (a 10,000 SQ FT facility of free-standing Star Trek sets), the costs to also put forth the films are quite substantial. Starship Farragut's "The Crossing" is a special film that requires financing that can no longer be contemplated without the support of backers’ support. The funds from this crowdfunding effort will be used for expenses associated with filming and post-production work with NEO f/x, who has worked with us since inception in providing CGI ship exteriors and other special effects.

NEW FILM – THE CROSSING

The newest Farragut adventure, “The Crossing,” is by far our most ambitious film to date. Around 1 HR 30 MIN in length, this film will be even more action-filled than any of our previous efforts, which means more fun for our fans but also a lot more choreography and a lot more filming. "The Crossing" is based on elements from the classic Star Trek episode, “MIRROR, MIRROR,” so everyone will get to see some alternative characters from the mirror Farragut universe.  We will also see the return of Security Officer Prescott (Paul Sieber) and Captain Wilcox (Mark Hildebrand) of the Starship Potemkin. The screenplay was written by Paul Sieber from a story treatment dating back to 2007 and will have story elements derived from our second film, “For Want of a Nail.”  We are most excited about this film; however, dabbling in the Mirror Universe involves more costumes, elaborate props, a larger cast, and more expenses.

PRINCIPLES & VALUES

A labor of love, we believe that the Starship Farragut project is unique because we offer quality, original storytelling based in the universe of Star Trek, but without the trademarked characters. We go to great length and expense to make the sets and costumes as accurate and to what they looked like almost 50 years ago on the Paramount lot.  Just as Civil War reenactment actors spend great effort in attention to detail, so do we have making 1960's SCI-FI . As our slogan suggests, we're doing our part to make, "CLASSIC TREK...NOW!"  All of our films are available for free download/viewing by accessing the Starship Farragut website or YouTube.

Community Outreach - Every year, Farragut Films hosts an open house of the studio for the general public to come visit and see our sets.  It's another way we share the magic of 'Star Trek' - more information on the open house, click here for FARRAGUT FEST

Shared Beliefs - We abide by ethical and honorable values, including the guiding principle that everyone regardless of position is valuable to the production. To elaborate further on our values, since inception ---- we have always executed on three objectives: 1) cast members receive their own tailored Starfleet uniform or costume and behind-the-scenes staff receive embroidered crew attire, 2) during filming - meals are provided, and 3) ensure every volunteer is properly credited in the film and that they receive a professionally-made DVD of the work they helped to create. We’re the only film group that does all three objectives; since we cannot pay folks for their time and contributions, it's the least we can do. Fellowship, film-making and family, it's what 'Farragut' is all about.

Risks and challenges

There are always risks and challenges when making an independent film (e.g., actors dropping out, locations and/or sets not available, unforeseen costs). However, during the last 10 years we have overcame the challenges and mitigated the risks. Farragut Films has a proven history of following through delivering films/new media content in a timely manner.
