Starship Farragut is an online webseries inspired by the original series of Star Trek, but instead of the crew of the Enterprise, it's the crew of the Farragut - simply put, "Different Ship, Different Crew and Different Adventures".
Starship Farragut's "Homecoming" is a special film as it's the webseries finale and requires financing to complete the remaining half of filming at the Kingsland studio, as well as post production costs, to include CGI ship exteriors and other special effects.
NEW FILM – HOMECOMING
The newest Farragut adventure, “Homecoming,” is full of intrigue, comedy and romance. A 'decompression' story, it is loosely inspired by Star Trek The Next Generation episode "Family," and fans will get to see a more personal side of the Captain as he visits family from his home planet. There, Carter faces issues of personal trauma, family identity and ethical conundrums. We will meet new characters and a new alien race, as well as catch up with the Farragut regulars we already know and love. The screenplay was written and directed by Paul R. Sieber, who also penned our most recent and action-packed episode, "The Crossing" and the fan-favorite, "The Price of Anything."
Associate Producers Phillip and Pat Duff enabled us to film at the Frank Lloyd Wright's Pope-Leighey House in historic Alexandria, VA.
In the series finale of Starship Farragut, you will see a rare cameo by Comic Book Godfather and Marvel Miracle Worker, Stan Lee!
Dick Dyzsel who currently plays Count Gore and previously portrayed Captain 20 from the 1970's is also a special guest star.
"Homecoming" closes this chapter of the Farragut saga and prepares to embark on the next phase of the adventure, called "Farragut Forward" which transposes the Farragut characters 8 to 10 years forward in the movie-era of Star Trek.
$ 5,000 - will be applied towards the Farragut Forward pilot, "THE BRAVEST HEART" written by prolific Star Trek and SCI-FI writer,Michael Jan Friedman who has written over 70 books and a screenplay of STAR TREK VOYAGER – the acclaimed second-season episode “Resistance.” Funding will be applied towards the new sets and costumes as featured in the movie era of Star Trek (Star Trek I - VI). "THE BRAVEST HEART" is slated for filming in the spring of 2016.
PRINCIPLES & VALUES
A labor of love, the Starship Farragut project offers quality, original storytelling based in the universe of Star Trek, but without the trademarked characters. We go to great length and expense to make the sets and costumes as accurate and to what they looked like almost 50 years ago on the Paramount lot. Just as Civil War reenactment actors spend great effort in attention to detail, so do we have making 1960's SCI-FI . As our slogan suggests, we're doing our part to make, "CLASSIC TREK...NOW!" All of our films are available for free download/viewing by accessing the Starship Farragut website or YouTube.
Cooperation - Over the years, we have helped to foster and support other Star Trek film productions and have gained valuable partnerships and meaningful friendships all in spirit of cooperation.
Shared Beliefs - We abide by ethical and honorable values, including the guiding principle that everyone regardless of position is valuable to the production. To elaborate further on our values, since inception ---- we have always executed on three objectives: 1) cast members receive their own tailored Starfleet uniform/costume and behind-the-scenes staff receive embroidered crew attire, 2) during filming - meals are provided, and 3) ensure every volunteer is properly credited in the film and that they receive a professionally-made DVD of the work they helped to create. We’re the only film group that does all three objectives; since we cannot pay folks for their time and contributions, it's the least we can do. Fellowship, film-making and family, it's what 'Farragut' is all about.
"Damn the torpedoes, warp speed ahead!"
Risks and challenges
There are always risks and challenges when making an independent film (e.g., actors dropping out, locations and/or sets not available, unforeseen costs). However, during the last 10 years Farragut Films has overcame the challenges and mitigated the risks. Furthermore, we have placed new key individuals responsible for our fulfillment process. We have a proven history of following through delivering films/new media content in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
