Risks and challenges
Since this project ended unsuccessfully with the first attempt, we have been busy exploring and evaluating different machine shops to get the VR1 made cheaper without sacrificing quality in an effort to reduce our funding goal. In that search, we have found a reliable and very experienced large scale manufacturer in China, which will help mitigate the risk of the project being delayed. As Engineers, we deal with multiple vendors on a daily basis and have dealt with changing timelines and priorities brought on by these vendors. This experience will also be applied to this project and allow us to manage our manufacturer in China to ensure that our timelines for this project are met. We have formed a good relationship with this vendor and were able to achieve low minimum order quantity (MOQ) numbers, along with a reduction in cost per piece through CNC live tooling. The prototypes seen on this project page were all made with this manufacturer.
In order to make this project a successful one and bring the VR1 to the production, we need your support to help us reach our funding goal. Your pledge will help us to meet the MOQ's for a production run of the VR1 housing and purchase off the shelf parts at bulk volumes. We want to make this happen with your support! Thanks for stopping by!
