Affect has received sample flavors from our supplier, but we need to finish development and select the final flavor profiles for our product. Most of our rewards allow you to select from our list below of fifteen flavors. This Kickstarter campaign is going to help Affect select the final six flavors that we introduce into production; a simple tally method will be used. The top six most popular flavors will be available for purchase after our Kickstarter orders are fulfilled via our website, www.drinkaffect.com.
There is also one reward that will allow you to work with the Affect team to create your very own flavor. You will provide taste testing feedback and our flavor manufacturer will create it! Pretty exciting!

For years I have always wondered why there were hundreds of different bottles of flavored vodka, rum, and tequila on the shelves of stores. It all started back in 2007 when the concept for Affect was born. After listening to a song my good friend, from the group TP & ESCO, recorded called Apple Juice, the idea for multi-serve liquid spirit enhancers started. Back then I was young, crowd funding was in its infancy, and I didn’t have the resources to create a venture of this magnitude, so I continued with college and kept it in the back of my mind. My idea stayed dormant until MiO was introduced for water in 2011. That gained my attention because it was a similar product, with a different target segment, water. I thought my chances of beating larger companies to market for the spirit segment were small, so I again hesitated. In 2013 there were still no liquid spirit enhancers in the stores; I decided to pursue the dream that I had many years ago. After consulting with product experts, colleagues, family, and friends I finally moved forward with creating an extensive business plan. This product has been thought out, planned, and created just for you! From the beginning of my journey the only thing I wanted to do was be able to make future customers smile, and enjoy a good drink. I hope you love this product as much as I do.

Affect was formed to bring multi-serving liquid flavor additives to the spirit market, giving you additional options when drinking alcohol. Affect was developed for vodka, but can also be used to flavor other alcohol such as rum, or tequila. Our products help turn a standard drink into a flavored creation, giving you complete control of your experience. Not only will Affect give a tailored flavor that will outperform current water enhancers mixed with alcohol, it will add color and aroma to the drink, bringing more excitement to the consumption process. Affect is committed to giving the customer the level of quality they demand. If the company can make it to market fast enough, the company will be the first company to introduce target marketed concentrated liquid alcohol drink enhancers.
Not only can you use this product at home, it will be a big hit for parties and bars as it is extremely portable. Instead of purchasing entire bottles of flavored alcohol, you can buy a standard bottle of alcohol and several bottles of Affect, giving you variety during your drinking experience. No longer with there be an argument over what flavor to buy, with Affect you can have them all and still come in under budget.
The product that Affect delivers is one of ease and flexibility. The product gives you options not only in flavor, but in experience as well. When you walk into the store you see a gamut of different alcohols, both flavored and unflavored. Many times this large selection can overwhelm you. When a group of people are getting together for a party or event, it can be difficult to agree on what alcohol flavor to purchase. Some people like fruity flavors, some like confection flavors, and some will like no flavor. Affect is for social groups that have many different types of people, and palates. Affect gives options, but it also reduces your costs! Affect will be produced by flavoring experts, bottled by professionals, and sold to people that demand the best. Our product will be mixed with vodka (or any drink) in a single serve manner, meaning you will mix a single glass at a time.
In the United States, there are 816 million bottles of vodka sold each year. Currently 25% of vodka sales in the United States are flavored products, with such varieties as raspberry, strawberry, and whipped cream. This female dominated consumer group consists of light drinkers, but is forced into purchasing large quantities of expensive flavored alcohol at one time, potentially risking that the flavor is not even palatable. In addition to that, all of these different flavors are sold in separate 750ml bottles (fifths), which makes logistics difficult when more than one bottle needs to be picked up for an event. When it’s time to get together with friends there can also be a sticking point on what flavor needs to be purchased. Other flavor additive products on the market such as MiO and Crystal Light are focused on the water segment, and their flavoring properties are not optimized for use with alcohol, such as vodka. These consumer issues, along with others, are the reason why we’ve created Affect.
Brad Essig, Vice-President of Marketing of Diageo North America says, “Currently much of the excitement in the US vodka market is being driven by flavour innovations. Vodka consumers value a brands’ heritage, but also look to vodka’s vibrancy and modernity to keep the category fresh and interesting. Flavour innovation is one way the category responds to consumers’ changing tastes and drives excitement.” “In the US,” adds Essig, “innovations are moving beyond fruit-based flavours and into new spaces, as the company see in the trend toward confectionery-style flavours.” (Britner, 2013). “Vodka’s 7% increase in 2011 marks the 16th consecutive year the category has enjoyed growth. Domestic vodkas were up 4.2% and imports by a massive 12%, according to the Liquor Handbook.” (Britner, 2013) In 2012 the spirits segment in the U.S. grew by 3.2%. What’s even more impressive is the flavored vodka growth in the United States, an unprecedented 23% in 2011. With this explosive growth the market is ripe for entrance.

Risks and challenges
We've done our best to keep the risks and challenges of this project to a minimum. We spent hundreds of hours creating Affect's business plan, which includes sections that detail risk factors of this Kickstarter campaign. At the same time we were building contingency plans in case of any setbacks we foresee. Our mission is to inspire and infuse social experiences, one event, one person, and one drink at a time, with our main focus being our customers. Just like you, we don't want anything to jeopardize the delivery of your product.
With that being said, we can't control everything. Affect is working with several large manufacturing companies who produce the flavoring, bottles, and shrink sleeves. Affect also relies on third party manufacturers to produce our branded rewards. Small changes in design may occur based on our manufacturer's limitations. We've received commitments on delivery of our product within the time frames specified, but our manufacturers use a first ordered, first shipped philosophy. Other clients may place orders with these manufacturers before we complete our Kickstarter campaign. If this happens, it may extend our delivery times of your rewards.
