A musical story about a kid who dreams of becoming a dancer but lacks the confidence in himself to fight for that dream... until today.
Hello! My name is Daniel Cloud Campos. As a filmmaker/dancer it has been an ABSOLUTE dream of mine to make a feature length film using music, song and dance as the main tools to create...a musical :)
My background in dance covers the last 17 years of my life. I've been making films for the past 5. In regards to both, some of my biggest inspiration comes from old movies with Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor, Charlie Chaplin and so many more of the "greats" that ruled the era of Musicals. It’s an era in which I feel so deeply connected with that I'm certain I should have been born into... lol :) Though since I wasn't, I realize that my need to channel the Musical era is also a welcomed responsibility to tribute some of the greatest entertainers that ever lived.
So, for the past year and a half my partner, Tamara Levinson and I have been writing our first musical feature film. Though before we actually take it into the studios to pitch, we want to make a SHORT FILM version of it to be included in our presentation. In addition to our presentation, the short will also be submitted to major film festivals in order to generate some interest. As Walt Disney advised, "Make it so good that they'll have to want it".
Our short film is titled, "Today's The Day".It follows a kid who works as an intern at STAR TALENT, one of the top dance agencies in town, and his dream in life is to become a professional dancer. He knows he's meant for so much more, but he lacks the courage and confidence to fight for it...until, today. The film is also about standing up against insecurity, doubt and fear and protesting that, "Today's the day I make my dreams come true! I will no longer be the wall that stands in my way." Because we are whatever we imagine ourselves to be. All we need is to believe it...
...and I believe in this short film 1000%. I believe this short will open the doors to getting our feature film made and when that happens, I believe that it will leave a mark in film history. I believe it will be a film that you’ll re-watch from time to time to put a smile on your face or lift your spirits."Today's The Day" is a light, warm-hearted, feel good film, that in my opinion, is so needed today. The world loves song and dance, so where did the Musical go? Help me bring it back! :)
If "Today's The Day" speaks to you, I hope you will make a pledge. Be it large or small, anything you can contribute will help fund our project.
