I've been coming to Tokyo for over six years and the opportunity to record with the Jazz band that I've been working with has finally arrived. This is a wonderful opportunity to allow people to really hear what we do here in Tokyo and to take it with them wherever they go....the word is we take Jazz standards to a whole other level!
We're going to start with an EP, which is an Extended Play CD. What does that mean? It means that there are about five songs on the CD for your listening pleasure. It also means that the cost to make it is less and we can create a product that people can enjoy! If we happen to get more contributions, then of course we can record more songs, but for now this is our dream.
The MAGIC will be in the jazz flavors....Swing, Ballads, Bossa Nova and most of all INTERPRETATION!
The Las Vegas on-line magazine lvintune.com says “She is a one of a kind talent and any opportunity to experience her should not be missed!” I have been a professional vocalist for over 25 years. A Singer and Songwriter who has recorded two Jazz and two Pop Albums‘, and over 50 Dance recordings. I have performed worldwide including the cities of New York, London, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul, Seoul, Macau, Paris and countless others. I bring with me these international experiences that have made me a fine tuned performer and entertainer.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I celebrate being the daughter of the most famous Swing bassist of our time, Mr. Eddie Jones of the Count Basie Orchestra. As you can, see my early years were firmly rooted in Jazz and have only blossomed more and more over the years.
My band and I are a moving painting of melody, nuance, rhythm and mutual awareness. This deserves to be captured digitally and shared with the rest of the planet. This experience at the New York Bar in Tokyo, where I am currently performing, has been creating a musical dynamic that most singers rarely get to experience.
In recent years, I haven’t been able to share how much I have grown vocally. I haven’t had the funding of a record company willing to produce a new CD.
All musical careers have to generate growth and expansion, it is no different for Jazz singers. I too, have felt the global slowdown in the music business. The economic crisis and the evolution of the music industry has forced artists to take a different approach to making their products. Thank God for Kickstarter!
This money is only the initial cost of production. That is, getting the musicians in a recording studio to record. We will also document the process on film so everyone can see how the magic is created and experience the vibe.
$6200 is the bare minimum to get us started.
· Studio rental
· Piano rental
· Musician Fees
AND THAT’S NOT ALL. There is more to generate….
like mixing and mastering and marketing and....wait...I’m getting ahead of myself. If we raise more than our goal the rest will go towards the continued list. How does it get any better than that?
The recording industry has changed dramatically. The traditional sources of financing, such as record labels, don’t exist in the same way anymore. Kickstarter offers the unique opportunity for friends, family and fans to be involved in this exciting creative process. In exchange for your pledge I am offering all sorts of rewards including a film of us in the studio during the recording session, or tickets to a future show that includes a backstage meet and greet and much more. I hope you will consider becoming a backer, it would mean so much to me. Thank you.
Risks and challenges
As I said above, it is hard to get financing for a recording project these days. Then there is the time frame. We need the funds by the beginning of January when we MUST go into the studio to record before I return to the USA. In order to do that, we need to reach EVERYONE who might be interested in participating.
YOU CAN HELP!
Share with your friends, post the link on your facebook page, or tweet about it.
And again THANK YOU! I am truly grateful.
