I backed PIXELIO too...Received it a few months ago with many problems. Motor isn't strong enough for it to work right, battery doesn't charge, must use it on USB power, complete garbage...Hope EORA 3D works better...If we ever get it...
my opinions are 2 options. they are either really good at 3D rendering making this into a massive scam or it is going to take them a year or so to put everyone's device together.
Just noticed the campaign for Voltset ended with all the money burned up since 2014. Not very much or frequent communication with backers. A lot of similarities with eora3d. Can it really be the case that no backers live close enough to knock on their door and rattle that cage.
Kickstarter has become a "daydream" platform, most of my remaining pledges are delay for over a year or two. that's it, I won't pledge for projects on ks any more.
People kickstarter isnt taking this scam serious PLEASE all report this project. There is a report this project on the button of the page when you look at the more info page.
Let's all wake up kickstarter and safe other people from this box of air
In August last year I predicted the iPhone 8 would be out before we would see the scanner :)
guess I'm right :/
it's going to be the end of May to hear anything about "possible" beta sets being shipped, then another 2 months before "maybe" actual shipping.
it took them more then 4 months to get certification that should have take 1 month as they told, and the images are rehashed from older ones just a different angles, I don't believe they have all the parts necessary to assemble the complete scanner.
sit back and relax this could take a while :(
@Andy T, perhaps it has been updated since you posted, but the list I see is quite good, IMO. I'll transcribe the list over to here for ease...
Supported Devices...
Samsung S5 - and above
Nexus 6 - and above
HTC One - and above
Sony Xperia Z4 - and above
Moto G - 2nd generation and above
Pixel - by Google
iPhone 6 - and above
iPhone 6 Plus - and above
iPod touch - 6th generation and above
iPhone 5s
iPhone SE
OK, there's a lot of "and above" in the list, which is somewhat ambiguous, but with the number of phones listed makes me think that virtually any high-ish end phone will work (again, this is an assumption of mine).
@La, what you have written is perfectly understandable. ;)
First of all thanks for the update. I really appreciate you guys working hard and try give us the best product, but this is not what we committed. Delay after delay is not right...
I backed a few projects on KS.
Deveslopes, eora3D and Znaps
The first project "Devslopes" delivered the project on schedule. Which is good and win a lot of trust from backers. The are now working on new projects and courses which it's another big success.
The third project "Znaps" turned out it was a scam and the names are blacklisted forever.
I think you guys are smart enough make the decision and deliver what you have promised to al the backers.
I'm sorry, maybe I explained bad, my english is really awful. I knew of their list of compatible smartphones, are also listed here, but it is unchanged, long since, and of course the market has changed a lot, but there has never been an update, so it is logical that I wanted to ask if some other models, which are not in the list, could be compatible. Morale of the fairy tale: having never been answered, I had to choose the smartphone among those in their list, the evolution of the Moto G series (Moto G 4 Plus)
SoLongSidekick, what smartphones? The same question. I had asked many times, by email but also here, I did not get a response. So I was forced to buy a smartphone among those who indicated, Moto G series (Moto G4 Plus), I could not wait any longer.
Wow...@Creator...I guess you were reading comments last night. Thanks for the update. The device does look cool from the images. As I mentioned in my last comment if you just centralize or tell everyone where you are going to post info, videos, or images I think it would make most much happier. Scattering little bits of info/images/videos over several social media sites makes it really hard to follow your progress. Do an instagram and snap an image every couple of days or post super short videos like you did last night. It quick, not a lot of writing or explaining, just a behind the scenes look to show people that your still alive and kicking.
Sorry for my english..
I do not see reasons to be happy.
In light of what has happened so far, I assume that the further delay will be conspicuous, perhaps October.
Is my first but last experience, 2 years are an unsustainable time.
Communication is really disastrous, perhaps the worst thing about this experience, exasperating.
@creator: thank you for the update. Please understand that an ETA , is as its name suggests, an Estimate. An ETA is not a commitment it is your best educated evaluation of all parameters to come up with a projected ESTIMATE of when your first production units will ship. You have (or should have) this date already but have chosen not to disclose it to your funding backers. This is probably not the best move if you wish to have a positive and productive relationship with your backers. You will need to lean on this relationship during the initial period after your product is released into the wild. As thoroughly as you may have attempted to work out all of the bugs, inevitably, there will be issues that crop up - requiring interaction with us.
Having read some of the top 100 comments I think we need to request from Kickstarter not to allow developers to collect extra funds to cover shipping until a verified announcement has been made the product is ready to ship. At least then the risk is limited to what we'd decided to contribute for, and not any extras.
Hello everyone.
My English is not good so this is a Google translation, excuse me.
I read far too many pessimistic comments to see resigned.
While it is true that the communication of Eora3D is unsatisfactory, the project is still in the course of development.
For proof this morning an update with 2 videos on their Youtube channel with demonstration software calculation of dimension, surface and the principle of scanned area une antenne :
Https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJb4vc5qE51I286ElX92kMw This means that they still work on the software. Even though the development is very long and we are impatient, I keep my trust in this project and I just expect more back from them. Good
Have a good day.
So it's May. A few day's shy of two months with no update or news. Anything to report? Something, anything to tell everyone that this project isn't dead.
Did anyone see the device at SXSW? Maybe that was the last of the KS funds, Austriala to Texas to attend an over hyped conference to demo a product that's not finished. Maybe that trips was to find another round of funding. Burn rate has to be high after a couple of years.
Well said James. I'm done with kickstarter. I'm ok with a project delays or even failure but this lack of communication really appears to be endemic, especially among 3d printing related items. I hope that works delivers but honestly, any enthusiasm that I had for it has almost completely waned.
One of the things projects fail to consider is the need for profit – a way for Kickstarter to reinforce that, would be to withhold a percentage of cash to projects, until after they deliver. Something on the order of 10-20% of total funds received. If your project planning is missing that level of “head room”, that project should not proceed.
Projects should also fill out, and Kickstarter publish, a standardized risk profile (Risk, likelihood, severity, mitigation of risks, based on experience level of the project participants), a type of FMEA or Hazards Analysis (Risk, likelihood, severity, mitigation of technical and learning risks) to state plainly, what the project risks, and to state what the ability of teams to deliver are.
Given the depth of experiences you have observed over time, this kind of information has to be known within Kickstarter.
There is a flaw in your business model, and it is hurting you.
When projects like Eora 3D, or Tiko fail to deliver, your backers of these project become forever reluctant to ever participate in another Kickstarter project.
I have backed several projects, some were losers like Tiko (Yes, I ordered 3 and paid $55 each for shipping) and an Eora 3D.
I now have little stomach for taking on the risk of new projects, after getting screwed by both of these projects.
You need to pay attention…
When your backers loose – so do you.
So what should be changed, what is wrong?
There is a lack of transparency and accountability in how projects are run. There is little recourse for backers, and limited financial and reputation impacts to project managers who fail backers.
Those who create projects, must be made to expose the progress they are making to fulfill project goals. Their addresses and contact information should be made public. Do not get me wrong, I laud the beauty of entrepreneurship (I have an MBA with an emphasis is entrepreneurship), but what is going on is wrong.
Many of your backers have expertise in Project Management, which is so missing in many projects. Many of us, would love to help the projects WE funded, but with the system as is, we cannot.
As a Systems Engineer, I am aware of a commercial project where the engineers knew the project was doomed due to poor planning, but the engineers also knew they did not have the ability to go to upper management to explain what was known. Doing so would have exposed the inadequacies of middle management, and middle management would have fired anyone who spoke out. Without the information of what was wrong, upper management could not make the needed changes to the project. Predictably, it went down in flames due to failure to deliver quality, jobs and large sums of money were lost. It was sick to watch.
Some honest communication and transparency could have made all the difference, but the “System” would not allow that. Your business model suffers from these same issues.
@bbee- you'll never see your money. I've encouraged others to be patient in the past, because I know how long, e.g., regulatory compliance can take.
But we are so far beyond that that I'm pretty sure we're in scam-land. I keep a list of people who have demonstrated they can't be trusted so that I only get burned once, and Rahul Koduri, Asfand Khan and Rich Boers of Sidney, Australia are now on that list.
Even if they delivered today, there's been a lot of competition in this space and it is far less interesting than it would have been. I gave up and bought another vendor's so I could get some work done.
The best feature of the one I bought off the shelf? It exists.
It would be nice to be proven wrong, but I'm not holding my breath.
