@Viral Videos
You are not worried about this being s scam are you. Well don't, scam Kickstarter projects are run much better than this one they communicate very well and post updates every couple of days they promise to include backers suggestions and answer questions giving the backers a sense of confidence that they know what they are doing they have well established web sites and if you search the creator you will find great credentials
THIS project does none of those things nearly a guarantee we will not see a finished product 26 days to bail
Sorry @unknownsoldier saw the post lower down, I think that's for charity. "One loaf of bread donation to charity (in your name)" and I dowt it costs them $55 for each toaster, else they won't make any money, they buy materials in bulk.
How the heck can you afford to give away 627 free toasters valued at $55 each ($34485)?? What is that all about?
Sounds like a bad way to do business especially when your finance model is crowd funded. I too have backed your campaign (for now) however I really don't like the concept of backers subsidising the freebie campaign at the same time.
@Chrisp , @Diego
Thanks Chrisp for the great ideas. Many of the suggestion we've received are very consistent so we kinda know what sorts of improvements backers want in general. About the giveaways, the budgeting wasn't too difficult because we will be giving away testing units from the small lot production in February. Of course, we will make sure these units are fully functional and safe without too much wear and tear.
Few thoughts from my side: wifi would definitely be nice and I don't see any security issues or risks. Buttons on the toaster would also be a requirement for me. Most likely I would like to use it sometimes without mobile as well. And yes I agree to all scamming thoughts and it makes me nervous too. I can't believe that giveaways can be budgeted that easily... :(
@Sam Beckett
I agree, I was an early supporter but all the talk of scamming and the large amount of give-aways tied with the scams on kickstarter have got me nervous.
@Sam Beckett
Yup, support we got from thunderclap really helped jump start our campaign early on. The effect of our supporters' combined social reach really helped us gain some good traction.
@Cherilia
That's a great question. We actually posted an update in our thunderclap campaign telling all our supporters there how to claim their reward. Please read the instructions in the update. And if you look closely in the rewards selection screen on our kickstarter page, you'll see there's a a thunderclap exclusive reward tier. Thank you so much for your early support!
@Jerry
Thanks for your insight on wifi or bluetooth. If we get funded, we will definitely sort this out before the end of the campaign.
@creator you guys did a Thunderclap campaign, promising a free toasteroid for every participant. how are you guys going to fulfill this? haven't heard anything from you guys on this. Have backed your project (for now) because I like the concept, but just wary of some kickstarter scammers, and just hoping that you guys are not one of them. It's just your Thunderclap campaign seems fishy...
@Sam Beckett
Sorry missed answers to this question, thought Jerry's comment answered it already. Yes to bagel support and different bread types. But we haven't tried pop tarts yet!
@Bernhard Rabe
Of course, we will definitely let you know whether we keep both bluetooth and wifi. And yes, we have been advised by very experienced engineers to not include wifi and that's why we don't have it in the current version. But many backers have it on their wish list so we are looking into the matter some more.
@Jerry
What we meant by adjustments can still be made is because we haven't done any tooling for manufacturing yet. That means no molds have been made and we can still make changes to the design. All of you here on Kickstarter has just been so great at providing ideas to help us make this toaster even better and we really appreciate that, especially if we could reach our funding goal, it will really make our dreams come true. Thank you!
Since no official answer, I will ask again.
Bagel support?
Pop-tart support?
This device needs to be compatible with all 3. Large sandwich bread, bagels, and pop-tarts.
Please post a video demo of all 3 types of input above with output please!
@Creator If you add Wifi to the toaster (which I think you shouldn't and everybody which has some insights into IT shouldn't either) - Please add the possibility to disable it and use bluetooth instead.
Also, I would love to hear a clear statement if you add it or not and what the features of the toaster will be BEFORE the campaign ends.
The exact dimension of the slot is 35mm wide, 280mm long.
The answer to the earlier question was it can currently support toast thickness up to 20mm. Widening it won't be difficult as we've left room for adjustments.
how do we adjust it hit it with a big hammer? why not just make it adjustable by itself?
Almost 2/3 funded everyone! Please continue share our project on social media and we will be funded really soon! Thanks for all your help!
@Brian Muller
Great idea, but gotta be honest with you - the mini hasn't been made yet. However, the technology is the same as the full version and the slices of bread are toasted back to back as opposed to side by side.
@Ming Shui
Thanks for the comments and suggestions! Just to clear things up a bit more, the slot is currently 35mm wide, so final adjustments can still be made on the thickness it can support. We really like your ideas to improve the campaign too!
@Sam Beckett
Yes, an Android app is available too!
Would be great to see a real life comparison of the mini vs full sized toasters. Especially as the mini is wider but shorter I'm interested how it actually toasts 2 slices like the big one
A few comments then: 20mm is less than an inch. That isn't very wide. Most wide slot toasters are 1.25-1.5 inches. I'd be worried about a bagel fitting in. Picture support e.g. Take a photo or jpg and use that image would be great as well as the ability to share designs among users. Wifi/pc support should be available as a stretch goal. But the width of the toast slot needs to be addressed. I'm likely to back out of my support if it doesn't get wider.
@Vial Videos
Quite a few most popular projects have around 1000 backers and very few comments right now. We would really like more of our backers to voice their opinions and give us feedback about our campaign. That would really help us to truly harness the power of Kickstarter.
@Kevin Adams
You can still make toast on a single setting without a bluethooth connected device. So you do need one to access all the functions of Toasteroid.
@Andreas Foda
Thank you so much! Please continue to share our campaign and we will definitely get funded in no time.
I hope you get 100% funded, now when I know a toaster like this exist I can't imagine a life without IT. Yes I know people are starving, but get a grip we are all on kickstarter together ;).
We've published our first update! Thanks for all your support and go check it out!
@Anthony Schmitz
Yes, all BackerClub members are eligible for the deal and we will double check with BackerClub. Thanks for the suggestions; we will definitely look into them.
@Jerry
Thanks for pointing out that there are more types of bread than what we listed in an earlier comment. My favorite is double dark rye and although Toasteroid can toast bread of all colors, the printed images are best viewed with lighter colored bread.
@BarrNoneLLC
The exact dimension of the slot is 35mm wide, 280mm long.
The answer to the earlier question was it can currently support toast thickness up to 20mm. Widening it won't be difficult as we've left room for adjustments.
I am a BackerClub member and I pledged for the $59 mini and would like to be boosted up to the regular sized toaster. Wanted to make sure I was marked down for it..?
Also, I really hope you guys are able to integrate Wifi and buttons into the toaster. If for some reason your phone doesn't work or is dead when you need the toaster that would suck. Buttons is a must though even if you can't integrate Wifi.
I am concerned about the dimensions of the slots. I have seen it posted that the slots are 20 mm wide but that really is not that wide. What are the exact dimensions of the toasting areas and is 20 mm the correct slot width?
We've reached 50% of our goal today! Thank you all for your support and pledges!
@Bernhard Rabe
Currently it only connects to your phone via bluetooth. However we have received suggestions from several backers to add wifi.
@Hisanori Kinbara
Yes, your calculations are correct. Please also send us a Private Message regarding your request.
Is the Toaster connected to the Internet? I just hope it is only connected via Bluetooth with the phone and the phone is connected to the Internet...
I am just asking because so many companies screwed up in security issues with "smart devices" and i would like to not compromise my LAN by a Toaster ;)
Use this space to cheer the creator along, ask questions, and talk to your fellow backers. Please remember to be respectful and considerate. Thanks!

What possible reason would you not want wifi over Bluetooth
Range well wifi wins
Security wifi wins
Works well on desk computers wifi wins
Works with IT people who have not kept up with technology wifi wins
Has simple to hack into pairing scheme Bluetooth wins
Does not work well with multiple devices like both mom and dads cell phone Bluetooth wins
Seriously what brand of crack are the Bluetooth people smoking
