An update on our progress

Pizza Shelf Backers,

First of all, thank you so much for your support of Pizza Shelf. Because of your support we will be able to bring "Wood-Fired Results, From Your Oven" to the world. We're reaching out today to give you an update!. Since the end of the campaign we've halted work on all other fronts except those directly related to fulfillment in order to guarantee we get you the highest quality product as fast as possible. Looking at the months ahead, there are always unexpected circumstances that pop up, but with this maniacal focus on fulfillment and barring any major surprises, we're on track to hit our timeline! 

So what have we been up to? Three major things: 1) SUPPLY 2) LOGISTICS 3) "MISE EN PLACE." Mise en place means "everything in its place" - in the kitchen it means setting up your ingredients and station to succeed. For us, that means producing all of the materials you'll need to succeed and making those available to you when we ship. On the supply front, we're close to locking in a deal with our supplier and scaling up production. On the logistics front, we've done our due diligence and are leaning towards a well known, trustworthy partner that may allow us to open up global delivery sooner than we imagined possible. To all of those backers outside the US, thank you for your support and we'll provide more details on this in a future update. On the “mise en place” front, we have a few updates. First, we're excited to announce that we've finally nailed and locked in the Neapolitan pizza dough recipe that we'll ship with every Pizza Shelf. I've personally been working on flour selection and dialing in the ratios for years and I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have. Second, we have designed and laid our "Making Your First Neapolitan Pizza" recipe insert so you can get started right away with our tried-and-true method. Third, we've storyboarded some instructional videos and also some blooper-style what-not-to-do videos to help you avoid some of the pitfalls we've encountered along the way. As we produce this content, we'll start sharing it early to get your feedback so we can make sure we're equipping you with the content and instructions that you need to succeed. 

We are incredibly humbled by the outpouring of support and feedback from our backers and we cannot wait to see what this creative group can do once we get Pizza Shelf in your hands. Thank you for your ongoing support, we should have another update to share in a few short weeks.

      Eric, yes sir. Emails to that effect will go out in the next few weeks - we've enlisted the help of BackerKit to help make it as smooth as possible for our backers. They have some less than ideal features (like having options to "leave a tip" or to purchase another one - totally unnecessary) but I've been assured their value-add is making backers feel like VIPs through the tail end of the fulfillment process. A kickoff email (with address confirmation) from a BackerKit email address will be coming soon.

      Thank you for the update. I think working on a pizza dough recipe and information parallel to working things out with suppliers is a good idea. It keeps you from going crazy waiting for responses and is a value-added element to recipients.

      Josh- I got burned bad with ZPM Espresso. I've also been more cautious. I feel like this project has less moving parts and has a higher success rate than most projects.

      Updates should be preceded by a short sentence that states if fulfillment as indicated in the campaign will be achieved.

      The next 40 pages can be anything else, no one cares. I didnt pay for you to tweak a recipe.
