I formed the Videri String Quartet in March 2012, when one of my friends asked me to find string players to play with his rock band. He also told me that if I wanted to, I could open for his show, with the quartet. This friend is Jeff Williams and he composes, records, and performs all the music for the machinima series, Red vs Blue (you can check out their latest videos here: http://roosterteeth.com). I of course LEAPED at the chance!! This string quartet does not play traditional quartet music; we play arrangements of video game music! We only had 3 weeks to get arrangements of music, make posters, and record a demo CD, which we SOMEHOW managed to do! Then, not much happened. We played a joint concert with the Video Game Music Choir in May, which was fine. But then at the beginning of July, Jeff brought the string quartet to Austin, TX with him for the Red vs Blue convention, RTX 2012. Once again, the string quartet opened for the show and then also played with Jeff and his band (the Jeff Williams' Freelance Orchestra). We ended up playing for about 900 people! It was a huge success! After this performnace, it became very clear: Videri needed to record a full length, professionally recorded CD. So, I found an engineer, talked to arrangers, called the other members of the quaret a million times, and finally started a kickstarter page!
What we need!! $3,500 - this would give us enough money to pay for the recording and mixing, get professional photos of the group and get a live video of one of the pieces so we can put that on our webpage and use it as promotional material for future concerts.
In order for Videri to move forward, we really need to have good recordings of our music. Once we have a CD, we can send it to conventions, video game music composers, and any potential concert venues. Our passion is performing, but we can't do that until we can get concerts! This CD will allow us to get concerts! And of course, it will allow Videri to share it's music with people. RIght now, we can only tell people about what we do, I want them to be able to hear it too!
