Read and Learn Yoga books are fun, educational, interactive books for children and adults alike. It is recommended to read the story then become the characters by practicing the yoga poses as illustrated in the back of each book. Enjoy quiet time at the end of the yoga practice, encourage your child to draw pictures for self-expression. Watch your child learn the practice of yoga through repetition and memorization.
We established Read and Learn Yoga with the goal of bettering the lives of future generations. The research that has been done on the benefits that yoga offers children is amazing. Studies have proven improved students' behavior, physical health and academic performance, as well as attitudes toward themselves. We hope to introduce yoga programs into schools through teacher trainings based on our books, which we will begin after we publish the first four in the series. Our hope is to give teachers the tools to offer yoga to children and better the classroom experience for both the children and teachers.
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge we face is not having the financial means to publish our books. We are self publishing and the publisher is also providing our illustrations which is the biggest expense of our project. We hope to overcome this challenge with our Kickstarter project. Kickstarter provides a professional platform which allows us to seek funding. Based on our experience with Jeeva Finds Courage, our first book, we know that we are at the publisher’s mercy. The illustrations take time and in turn our dead lines might not be met. We intend to publish each of the remaining 12 books every 4-6 months, but if the illustrations are held up it will delay our goals.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
