Product development on an internally edge-lit RGB LED wedding cupcake holder. Freestanding tree-style cupcake display.

I'm Andy Livingston, an electrical engineer in the aerospace industry. I've also been a part of the product development, R&D, and LED lighting industry.

Very recently, I started this project for my own wedding. Since I started it, I've wanted to work in weddings. So many people have asked me about, and commented on the cupcake holder, that I am going to make it into a real commercial product.

The first step is developing circuit boards. Using flex circuits, I plan to simplify the LED placement up the base. An improvement over this:

The next step is to refine the controller circuitry, enabling more complex patterns and pattern storage. I will also add a way to control color and pattern output through buttons.

I have drawn up plans for the next version of the physical structure, an improvement that will allow for faster assembly/disassembly, cleaning, and transport.

So much of this is based on laser cutting and etching technology, I will need to purchase a laser cutter to streamline the prototype and assembly process.
