So we are a bunch of mechanics from Dallas TX with a common vision/goal. We noticed how much money and time some of our customers could have saved if only they knew how simple their car problem was. These days most people surprisingly don't know even the simplest of car fixes. So 3 of us got together and brought a couple of Dallas based mechanic shops together to come up with FIXL. The idea is simple. What Shazam is to music, FIXL is to car noises. So together in our shops we are in the process of recording just about every possible sound any car can make that is distinguishable enough to identify right down to the bolt itself. This app will be fun and very useful. Through FIXL you will be able to identify your car problem based on the noise coming from your car and it will even find the right part at an autopart store near you. It will also provide simple to follow instruction by ASE certified mechanics so anyone can learn to work on their own car and save money. And most importantly build a closer relationship with your car.
Risks and challenges
The risks involved in making this idea come to life are the following:
1. We are nearly halfway through the sound recording process. With hundreds of unique car sounds that stand out from the rest we are patiently waiting for those remaining sounds of sick cars to come in to have their sound recorded.
2. As with today technology to identify car problems, The identified car problem might not be 100% accurate. However we are constantly recording new sounds every day.
3. Lagging. As with any new app the first version will be sluggish. We will be big into listening to our communities feedback. We push to constantly release upgraded versions.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
