Sasquatched! The Musical is premiering at the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) in July 2013 and we need your help to make it happen!
The New York Musical Theater Festival (www.NYMF.org) is a prominent competition for new musicals and is considered the “Sundance Festival” of the musical theatre world. Sasquatched! The Musical was one of only ten musicals selected out of hundreds of submissions for the Next Link Project, a program which supports new works. Past musicals that have emerged out of this program to go on to Broadway and Off-Broadway include: Altar Boyz, [Title of Show], Yank!, Chaplin, and the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning Next to Normal. The Next Link winners chosen to participate in the festival are selected by a grand jury of Tony award nominees and winners, and it is a great honor and opportunity to showcase our musical in an Off-Broadway venue.
Sasquatched! The Musical is the story of the gentle, dignified Arthur (a talking Sasquatch lost in the woods of Columbia National Park in the Pacific Northwest), his friendship with a boy named Sam, and his interactions with other quirky characters in the surrounding area. The musical is divided into two acts and has a running time of just under two hours. It contains fourteen songs and the music ranges from show tunes to pop/rock. The play was designed for a medium-sized ensemble cast with twelve major characters.
The style of the play is humorous, fast-moving, and contemporary. The subject matter is somewhat satirical in nature, but the piece has wide appeal and is geared for general audiences. Dramatic themes include: issues in parenting, the phoniness of the media, environmentalism, and acceptance (human-Sasquatch relations, etc.). Even so, the show steadfastly retains its comedic charm and avoids anything too preachy, political, or saccharin. Sasquatched! The Musical maintains a delicate balance between edgy and sweet, both in terms of its script and its music.

Sasquatched! The Musical will culminate in a series of public performances at the PTC Performance Space (Pearl Theatre) at 555 West 42nd Street in New York City (July 9-14) as part of NYMF. We have been busy building our fantastic creative team and cast, and rehearsals will begin mid-June with performances between July 9 and July 14.
As you can imagine, producing your own Off-Broadway show is a daunting task, not only in terms of time, effort and commitment, but also in dollars. We need to pay for actors and a creative team, costumes, set, lighting, promotion, and many other costs involved with producing a musical in New York. This is where you can show your support and become a “producer” of this great opportunity.
Your contributions are greatly appreciated and can make a difference in musical theatre history. Sasquatched! The Musical is a fun, clever and highly melodic musical which deserves to be seen by a larger audience. Your donation can help to make that a reality.
Thank you very much for your time and consideration. Whatever your level of giving, please listen/download the free MP3 music on the Sasquatched! The Musical website at: www.sasquatched.com – which is our gift to all!
