"Shaenon K. Garrity has taken one of the fundamental truths of character comedy—bad guys are funnier than good guys!—and has, in Helen Narbon, given us the brilliant, witty, appetite-driven scoundrel we’d all secretly like to be."
Roger Langridge, The Muppet Show Comic, Thor
For the staff of Narbonics Labs, tampering in God's domain is just another day at the office. Mad scientist Helen Narbon is ready to show all those fools, ably assisted by geeky lab technician Dave, rifle-toting intern Mell, and Artie the superintelligent gerbil. But Helen has secrets she keeps from the rest of the lab, and one of her experiments is about to wreak havok beyond her wildest dreams. Can love coexist with madness? Can the power of Science overcome common sense?
"Garrity planned her plotlines so carefully, so methodically, foreshadowing events that would take years to unfold, that the term ‘comedy’ just doesn’t seem apt enough."
Diana Kingston-Gabai, The Savage Critic(s)
Shaenon Garrity here. A while back, with the help of Kickstarter backers, I published the complete archives of my daily comic strip Narbonic in a sweet two-volume omnibus edition. It was so sweet, in fact, that it's now sold out, leaving lovers of mad science, evil coffee, and questionable romantic choices cruelly deprived.
That's where you come in. To reprint Narbonic: The Perfect Collection, I'm taking Kickstarter pledges with special incentives at every level: signed and sketched books, original artwork, evil swag, and stretch goals to print additional Narbonic-related books.
"Narbonic is the only funny new strip cartoon I’ve seen in years."
Tom Hart, Hutch Owen
The books are paperback, a little under 400 pages each, and will include all six years of daily strips, plus six bonus stories, pinups by guest artists, and an introduction from Comics Journal editor and critic Kristy Valenti. If you didn't get these big books the first time around, you need them now. And if you got them then, you need more. For friends and stuff.
Do we have stretch goals? You bet we have stretch goals! If this Kickstarter passes $20,000, all backers at the Unpaid Intern level or higher will receive The Narbonic Reactorside Reader, a print collection of all the Narbonic comics I've drawn since ending the strip in 2006. These stories previously appeared in the Couscous Collective anthologies and many are now out of print. I'll even throw in illustrated versions of my two Narbonic prose stories, "Lovers and Madmen" (previously available only to backers of the first Narbonic Kickstarter) and "The Discontent of Winter" (a secret story I hid in the filenames in the narbonic.com archives).
And if we pass $25,000, I will bow to popular demand and publish a print edition of The Astonishing Excursions of Helen Narbon & Co., a Victorian-themed comic which ran as a Sunday feature in Narbonic. All backers at the Unpaid Intern level or higher will receive a copy.
"It's about love. And evil. And evil love. And gerbils. Who could ask for anything more?"
Seanan McGuire, Rosemary and Rue, Feed

Risks and challenges
I've previously published six books through Kickstarter, including the previous printing of this book. I foresee no problems and plan to have the new books out in the spring of 2018.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
