The Project

Going Against the Grain...

Abu Sidhum Site, Egypt- View from Google Earth

2013 update:  I now have historical and factual proof from the Abu Sidhum and Fayum sites in Egypt that both sites could be lost pyramid complexes. I want to find out the truth and validate if these discoveries are legitimate.

As I stated in the original press release that Discovery News ran in 2012, "The images speak for themselves. It's very obvious what the sites may contain but field research is needed to verify they are, in fact, pyramids.”

When the story was first published the goal was to get help on the ground to verify if the sites could be lost pyramid sites. What I received instead from the academics was a very vehement response to a request for help and cooperation. However, new proof has came to light that has validated both sites may indeed be lost pyramid complex sites and the adventure begins...

The Proof

Famous Collector's of Rare Maps and Documents Confirm Sites Could be Ancient Pyramid Sites...

In September of 2012, to my amazement, I was contacted by an Egyptian couple who claimed they had proof to back up the possible pyramid sites as being legitimate archaeological discoveries.

“The couple, Medhat Kamal El-Kady, former ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, and his wife Haidy Farouk Abdel-Hamid, a lawyer, former counselor at the Egyptian presidency and adviser of border issues and international issues of sovereignty, are top collectors of maps, old documents, books and rare political and historical manuscripts. "

Al-Idrissi map of the Earth donated by Medhat Kamal El-Kady and his wife Haidy Farouk Abdel-Hamid to the Library of Alexandria in 2010.

"El-Kady and Farouk have made important donations to the Egyptian state and the U.S. Library of Congress. Their various gifts to the Library of Alexandria include Al-Sharif Al-Idrissi's map of the Earth drawn for King Roger II of Sicily in 1154." -text via Discovery News

They also explained they had documentation to confirm both the Fayum and the Abu Sidhum site were pyramid sites along with information detailing how to enter the pyramids and what the pyramids contained.

They had proof, via rare documents and maps that the Fayum site was hiding more than ancient watchtowers. I decided to go visit the couple in Egypt in December of 2012 and see their documents and maps first hand.

As it turned out their interests in collecting helped legitimize my findings that both sites could definitely be lost pyramid complex sites and they had proof to back up their story. I was not disappointed and their side has yet to be told…

More Proof...

I was contacted in March of this year by an expedition team in Egypt who visited the Abu Sidhum site. They sent me detailed video of the mounds, showing how they resembled pyramids, along with video of pottery shards which covered the area extensively and helped confirm the couple may be right about the site near Abu Sidhum. The team used a metal and cavity detector that gave positive results for tunnels and cavities inside all four mounds/possible pyramids! The team and I also believe we have identified a temple or habitation site near the Abu Sidhum site and a row of what may be mastaba tombs adjacent to the mounds!

Out of the Ordinary Evidence...

We have found some incredible evidence at the Abu Sidhum site and it could be much older than many in Egypt. There is a distinct water line on all four mounds at around 50 feet in height. If this site is proven to be an artificial pyramid/mound site it could date back to the Predynastic or the Prehistoric period of ancient Egypt, making this one of the oldest known pyramid/mound complexes in Egypt.

The implications that this site, if proven artificial may be an amazingly old site and could even rewrite the history of ancient Egypt.
I want to find out the truth and record this quest for you to see!

Working towards the future

I have formed a non profit foundation for my research so I can get help in validating and ground proofing sites. The Satellite Archaeology Foundation, Inc. was formed in March of 2013 and is a non profit pending status from the IRS. If anything the negativity I received originally has only strengthened my passions for satellite archaeology and my drive to succeed when others would have me give up.

The Goal, and Plan

Go to Egypt with a team of videographers and researchers, get ground penetrating radar proof to back up the finds of the Egyptian expedition team and Haidy and Medhat, document the finds for a video production/documentary and find out the truth about what's really under the sands in the Egyptian desert. As the Smithsonian.com writer Rose Eveleth stated in her article about the sites, "The only way to find out, is to go..."

I am working with the Egyptian team led by Mohamed Aly Soliman to open up a branch of the Satellite Archaeology Foundation, Inc. in Egypt. This will allow me to apply for and receive site permits very quickly. This will also help give jobs to the team members who have been helping me.

The Benefits

My plan is to help the Egyptian people as much as possible with the findings from this discovery and ethically perform the research to confirm these sites are valid. The idea is to bring national pride to Egypt with a new discovery so this campaign has more implications than just making a documentary. I also feel very strongly that my goal is to help the Egyptian people and do the right thing most importantly. I have a very heartfelt connection to Egypt and the Egyptian expedition team. This campaign will create jobs for them and will touch many more lives than just mine alone. That is the goal and it will be done by following my heart and always remembering this is and has been a team effort.

Are the Sites Safe from Looting?

I was very concerned about the sites especially the Abu Sidhum site being looted until I heard from Mohamed Aly Soliman who went there with an expedition team back in March of 2013. He has reassured me that the Bedouin landowners are letting absolutely no one into the site without their permission and they have only given permission to his team. Others have tried to get there unsuccessfully. The Abu site is safe and very secure and I do not recommend going there without permission from the landowners. This is an area that one cannot just walk into without permission or your life could be in jeopardy.

The landowners know about this campaign and about my efforts with this site. They are supportive and are waiting for me to make a trip to the site to help verify it is an archaeological site. This could bring jobs to the area and a cash flow for the people if it becomes a world heritage archaeology site. My team and I have been given permission to enter this site anytime and I am very gracious that the doors have been opened to allow me to continue this work and do it in an ethical manner with the local people's well being in mind.

Where will the Money Go?

All proceeds from this campaign will go to the bank account of the Satelllite Archaeology Foundation, Inc., a non profit pending corporation. The mission of the Satellite Archaeology Foundation is to research, discover and explore new archaeological sites using satellite imagery. The Satellite Archaeology Foundation Inc., promotes satellite archaeology by utilizing contributions to support new archaeological discoveries.

You can donate directly at the website: satafoundation.org. Anyone interested in seeing the campaign budget, please send me a request and I will send it to you: amicol@satafoundation.org

Here is a breakdown of how the money will be spent:

      • Ground Penetrating Radar System

      • Infrared Satellite Imagery, to help identify additional features at the sites.

      • Miscellaneous equipment

      • Return trip to Egypt to visit and conduct GPR at the two sites, North of Fayum lake region and the Abu Sidhum area.

      • Camera crew to film the GPR data and site investigations for a documentary.

      • Site government permits

      • Remaining funds will go to investigate other sites that have been identified that may contain undiscovered archaeological evidence.

Risks and challenges

Risks:

-There may be nothing at the sites. How will my team be prepared for this? We have more sites we plan on investigating in Egypt. One site has already been identified as another undiscovered ruin site. We have video and photographic evidence that proves this. Video and imagery for this site will be posted soon.
