Here is an article written about the film and the inspiration that called us to work together.
What is Secrets Of An Unborn Child about?
In Secrets Of An Unborn Child the lives of two sisters intersect. Clare loses her baby and Anna, in the midst of an emotional crisis, inadvertently abandons her child. The film follows the two sisters as they overcome their worst fears and help each other rebuild their lives.
On the anniversary of her baby’s death Clare has an anxiety attack and calls her sister Anna for help. Anna arrives, but is hiding her own dark secret.
Clare goes to a support group for grieving parents. Disconnected from her husband, Clare sleeps around with other men. Clare has a sexual encounter that turns violent and she inadvertently puts Anna’s life in jeopardy.
The tension between the sisters escalates, and Anna's secret is revealed. Clare learns that Anna abandoned her own child in the midst of an emotional breakdown.
Clare feels that somehow the loss of her baby was her fault. At her darkest hour, Clare has a vision of her lost baby. He now appears to her as a grown man and reassures her that it was not her fault. After this vision Clare understands that death is not the end; that relationships still exist even though a person may not be with you in physical form.
Anna hides out at Clare’s house refusing to speak with her husband about what she did. Her denial causes her to lose custody of her own child.
Secrets Of An Unborn Child is about overcoming tragedy and finding hope. It is about reconnecting with those you love and connecting to the mysterious forces within the universe.
I have always worked from personal experience in my films. As a South African immigrant I grew up during Apartheid and I witnessed a lot of fear and violence. My first short film THE LAST GUNSHOT explored these themes and the familial implications of Apartheid. In some of my other short films I've explored themes of intimacy, isolation and violence against women.
SECRETS OF AN UNBORN CHILD was motivated by a real experience I had when due to complications I gave birth to my baby at 7 months. He struggled to survive, but didn't. It was a painful and difficult experience. I started to write the script with my sister Evelyne. I was compelled to explore the theme of survival after the loss of a loved one.

How can I help?
Apart from backing the film, You can SPREAD THE WORD! Tell a friend about the project via email, share it on Facebook, tweet about it, something...anything...you can even call someone on the phone and talk about it. If everyone we sent it to gave $20 we would meet our goal. If that's too high anything will help.
How does Kickstarter work?
We set a goal -- in this case, $30,000. We set a deadline. It is June 2nd. You pledge whatever your heart desires. If you even contribute as little as $1, you would be bringing us closer to our goal. Remember that the bigger the pledge, the greater the rewards (look to the right for a list of all the rewards we offer).
If we make the goal by the deadline, your credit card is charged what you pledged (but not until then). We have enough to make the film, you get your rewards and all is right with the world.
If we don't make the goal, your credit card is NOT charged, we do NOT get a penny, you do NOT get any amazing goodies and EVERYONE is upset, but we would probably be more upset.
When will everything be finished?
We plan on completing everything by September of 2013, which would allow us to start our film festival run at the start of 2014.
BECAUSE IT TAKES A VILLAGE!

Risks and challenges
We purposely wrote our film in a way that we can shoot it quickly and inexpensively. Our film is not about car chases or exploding helicopters. Instead it is about human relationships and the amazing power of the human spirit to heal and overcome life's sometimes challenging lessons.
We have a great team of experienced professionals on board. The Director, Editor, Composer and Cinematographer have made several film projects together.
As a team we understand what it takes to get a film like this made. We are very passionate about this project. We are excited to take this film from page to screen and we are ready to tackle any challenges!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
