Audrey Smilley was formed in 1988 by former members of the Arizona death/goth band Theatre of Ice. Drawing on influences as diverse as Blue Oyster Cult, KISS, Neil Diamond, the Clash and the Beatles, Audrey Smilley played shows all over the Wasatch front in Utah. The band’s blend of acoustic and electric guitars with tight three and four part harmonies will grab you immediately.
While living as dirt-poor students in Provo, Utah, we recorded our original 12 song album whenever we could find the money to pay for studio time. The drummer we were working with at the time quit the band midway through the recording, so we had to make due with the time and talent we could find. This led to decidedly mixed results.
Fortunately these technological and (*cough*) other flaws can now be corrected through the miracle of modern technology.
Our project goal is to convert our original 8-track master recordings and digitize them for remixing in Protools software. After that's finished, we will have it professionally mastered which includes: post production, editing, noise reduction, normalization, equalization, compression, limiting, dynamics retention, crossfading, song title embedding and CD Database submission.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge to this project is time. Our reunion show is currently scheduled for mid July 2013. Once funded, we will need to get our music remixed and ready for mastering fairly quickly. Once that's finished it's a question of having preparing various distribution methods for the newly-remastered songs. These include digital downloads, USB memory sticks and a limited number of physical CDs.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
