This Kickstarter is about helping me finance the production of my new album by pre-ordering a copy of it. The album is called "Universal Disappointment" and will be out this year on vinyl, streaming and download.
I am releasing the album independently, so everything relies on word-of-mouth. Getting you to pre-order the album is another way of spreading the word before the album is even released.
The price here is the same as the final price of the album once released, so if you are considering to buy the album anyway you should do it now - especially as the album will probably not get made unless this Kickstarter secures the production.
If you heard my earlier album "The Four Seasons", you will have some idea of the style of this one. The music is a blend of totally different things; free improv, 60’s garage rock, traditional jazz, 70s funk, prog and punk, sound art, field recordings. At the same time it's undeniably my own musical vision. Check out the video to hear some examples of the style (the music is not finished yet, but it will give you an idea).
The music is played by 10 musicians, including myself. I am very lucky to have some of the best musicians from the Danish music scene on the album: Erik Kimestad (trumpet), Laura Toxværd (alto saxophone), Ingimar Andersen (alto saxophone), Petter Hängsel (trombone), Henrik Olsson (guitar), Casper Nyvang Rask (el. bass), Jeppe Skovbakke (double bass), Anders Vestergaard (drums). They are playing in different constellations, large and small groups, never at the same time.
Everything is ready to be finished. The compositions are recorded and I am mixing it right now. The artwork is nearly finished (as you can see in the picture and video). The only thing missing is the money to finish the project.
As with everything I do, this is a very personal project. Every note is written by me, I am the producer, I have made the cover art, I do the business. So, as you can tell, this is important to me.
Every donation will be rewarded with unique music and eternal gratitude.
Risks and challenges
I have done this before. Two years ago I completed an album through a Kickstarter campaign, so I know it is possible.
I am always working on multiple artistic projects at the same time. So you could question whether this project will get the attention from me that it needs to end up being really great. All I can say is: This is the most important project for me right now. This is the thing I look most forward to do when I wake up every morning.
And it will end up being finished. This is the fifth release in my own name (I have also released seven other albums with various bands and projects). I am very good at completing things and seeing them through. Each album I have contributed to have been successful and gained attention from the media. I promise this album will also be worth checking out once finished (very soon).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
