This Kickstarter is about helping me finance the production of my new album by pre-ordering a copy of it. The album is called The Four Seasons and will be out in May 2017 on vinyl and download.
The music on this album is by far the most romantic I have ever written in it's depiction of nature and human life, and the blend of genres is the most radical in my career so far. The whole thing is very ambitious and therefore extremely exciting for me. I have been working on the music for several years, and now it finally sounds like something that is nearly finished.
All you have to do is pre-order a copy of the album here. The price here is the same as the final price of the album once released, so if you are considering to buy the album anyway you should do it now - especially as the album will not get made unless this Kickstarter secures the production.
The Four Seasons is a suite inspired by the changing seasons. And no, musically it has nothing to do with Vivaldi. The style is a blend of totally different things; free improv, German baroque, 60's surf, experimental jazz, sound art and field recordings. The music is played by nine musicians, including myself, but not all of the musicians are playing all the time.
The musicians performing are some of the finest on the Danish musical scene on which I belong: Erik Kimestad (trumpet), Lars Greve (saxophone), Petter Hängsel (trombone), Henrik Olsson (guitar), Kristian Tangvik (tuba), Casper Nyvang Rask (bass), Rune Lohse (drums), and Teis Søgaard (drums). They will be playing in different constellations, large and small groups. These guys are also my good friends, and I know they understand my compositional ideas and are able to make them work.
Everything is ready to be finished. The compositions are done and almost recorded and mixed. The artwork is nearly there (as you can see in the picture above). The label, Barefoot Records, will release the album as soon as the LPs have been printed. I just need the money.
This is a very personal project for me. Every note is written by me, I am the producer, I have made the cover art, I am co-owner of the record label. So, as you can tell, this is important to me.
Every donation will mean the world to me.
Risks and challenges
I am always working on multiple artistic projects at the same time. You could therefore question whether this project will get the attention from me that it needs to end up being really great. All I can say is: This is the most important project for me right now. It is the most personal and emotional music I have been working on for years.
And it will end up being finished. This is the third release in my own name (I have also released six other albums with various bands and projects). I am very good at completing things and seeing them through. Each album I have contributed to have been successful and gained attention from the media. I promise this album will also be worth checking out once finished (very soon).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
