In the year 2030 the human race is cryogenically frozen in order to stop the impact their destructive nature has on the environment. While they are frozen for 1000 years the Earth will have time to heal.
While We Sleep picks up 30 years after the majority of the world's population has been frozen. An old Tinkerer searches the wastelands for parts for his homebuilt cryo-pod. As he grows close to his goal of freezing himself, a young man and child enter his life. At its climax While We Sleep provides the Tinkerer with a weighty moral dilemma.
Director Ross Mear and Producer Connor Dyer are third year students at AUT University, Majoring in Television and Screen Production. This project is part of their final assignment where they must produce a short film from pre-production through to final delivery. Working with a small crew the film will be shot over a three and a half day period and edited by themselves. The goal is to produce something worthy of not only their show-reels but to add our two cents to the dialogue surrounding our planet and the impact we have upon it. (Plus we really want to have a blast making it!)
What the funds will be used for:
The funding gathered from Kickstarter will be used to create a believable world for While We Sleep. Funds will help in the purchase of materials to make props, set and costumes. In addition to this it will also be used to feed the cast and crew who are donating their time to help out.
Risks and challenges
The delivery date for this film is late October. Being a university assignment it has a hefty paper trail to be handed in alongside it. For this reason all rewards for our backers will be sent following the completion of this semester, when we can make it our sole priority. We endeavour to have these delivered before the year ends.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
