The Money is Down the Hole!

We are done! The funds came through from Kickstarter a couple of days ago, and I was able to get to the bank yesterday to withdraw the cash. Minus fees, the total amount received was $62.63. Here's a photo of it before it went down the hole:

The Money

The astute observer will note the one and two cent pieces, which have been out of circulation since 1992. I used these as I thought it appropriate to ensure that the exact amount received was thrown down the hole, rather than rounding up or down to the nearest five cents. Despite these coins being out of circulation, they are in fact still legal tender according to both the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Royal Australian Mint. Accordingly I consider this to be a perfectly cromulent use of these coins.

Without further ado, here's the photo you've all been waiting for:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the backers for their support. Without your willingness to discard your hard earned cash, this project would not have been possible. I sincerely hope your rewards are everything you expected them to be.

For those late to the project, who missed out on the full experience of having their money thrown down a rat hole, I have made a photographic print available on Redbubble at a 5,000% markup. Purchasing one of these will, I trust, make up for missing out on directly backing this project.

But -- what does it all mean?? Is this why we're here, to fill up rodent holes with bits of paper with questionable meaning???
I think I may be having an existential crisis....

I am very pleased that this project was able to deliver on time and on budget. I feel very satisfied that I have been able to Throw My Money Down A Rat Hole and look forward for other innovative ways to support independent artists in the future.
