Again, thank you all so much!
What is the Stow-Away Camera Lens Cap Holder?
The Stow-Away is an accessory for your camera that holds your lens cap under your camera. It screws into your standard tripod mount with a thumb screw, and can hold your caps sized 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, and 72mm. Designed to help you focus solely on your photography, Stow-Away provides the most convenient way to store your lens cap while shooting. I have used this prototype on my recent photo shoots and found that it makes shooting easier because I don't have to wonder where to put the lens cap, or where I put it last.
What makes the Stow-Away better than alternatives?
Stow-Away has several advantages that make it special. The design makes it fast because the lens cap naturally clicks in where it belongs. Being attached firmly to your camera, it is a constant you can rely on. Stow-Away holds your cap in a convenient place all the time, unlike attaching your cap with a string where it is seemingly always in your way. When using Stow-Away, you don't have to worry about where to put your cap, or where you left it, because it has a home under your camera.
What goes into it, and why is funding needed?
Kickstarter funding is needed to make the injection mold for the main plastic part of Stow-Away. Injection molded PP plastic is the main part of the cap holder, and it is secured to your camera via a thumb screw tightened from below. On the top of the cap holder is a thin layer of cork to cushion it on the bottom of your camera, and a clamp to keep the thumb screw in.
If this project is funded, what happens afterwards and when will they ship?
The Stow-Away project is all set to go, all that is left is funding for the mold! I have sourced all parts of the cap holder, and I am ready to start production. When I receive the funding, the money will go into creation of the mold and to acquiring the other parts that make up the Stow-Away. Once all the parts come together, they will be ready to ship! After funding ends, the cap holders will begin shipping in December.

A note about the texture of the Stow-Away cap holder pictured in this project: The example of the product surface shown above is more rough than the final will be. This is because it is a 3D print of the design, and the actual product will be injection molded and have a less rough, more durable texture on it.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
There are a few risks and challenges associated with this project. One challenge is getting all the various components needed to build this product in one place, from the thumb screw to the cork backing. In my process of creating this product, I have been working with manufacturers and getting samples of all the parts needed. As I did this, I organized my supply chain and am set up so that when the project is funded I can bring all the components together. A risk in the project is that certain parts could get delayed in shipping and cause a delay when sending out the cap holders. To prevent this from being a big problem, I have set delivery times that I feel are realistic. Having done the preparatory work, it is now just a matter of getting the mold created so I can get these in the hands of photographers.
