For the first time in history, women are designing our world. MAKING SPACE will also be a first: a full-length documentary film about the women who are changing our environment. How have they made it to the top in a male-dominated field? What is the nature of their creative process? Are there gender differences in architectural design? What is new in contemporary architecture?
After conducting interviews around the globe, five outstanding architects were selected: Annabelle Selldorf (New York), Farshid Moussavi (London), Odile Decq (Paris), Marianne McKenna (Toronto) and Kathryn Gustafson (Seattle, Wash.DC and London).
With them we explore some of today's most exciting and groundbreaking urban, landscape, residential and cultural spaces. MAKING SPACE will be lively and engaging. It will tell the compelling human stories of these five remarkable women.
Some of the other exceptional talents who have enthusiastically participated in this project include: Meryl Streep, Paul Goldberger, Pulitzer Prize-winning architecture critic; Paola Antonelli, Senior Curator, Dept. of Architecture & Design, MoMA; and Hans Ulrich Obrist, art historian & curator, Serpentine Gallery, London, who are pictured below.
With our award-winning Director and Cinematographer, this film will be produced with the highest production values. Worldwide cable television distribution is anticipated and the film will be part of an educational film library reaching schools, museums, and libraries.
Director: Ultan Guilfoyle

Your contributions will be used for our post-production costs, which include:

We desperately need your help in reaching the 'finish line'! We thank you in advance for anything you can contribute. NO CONTRIBUTION IS TOO BIG OR TOO SMALL... AND DON'T FORGET: WE DON'T GET A PENNY UNLESS WE REACH OUR GOAL!!
Risks and challenges
We've had very positive feedback from cable television channels and are confident that we will secure cable tv distribution and that the film will be accepted by major international film festivals, however, as with all documentary films, securing theatrical distribution remains challenging.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
