Hello everyone, this is Breeze again with some robot news! We won't be hitting you up every single day, I promise.

Two things! Today we'll talk about:

  • Where we're headed!
  • Catching up and explaining the basics of the game and introducing you to the world of AEGIS proper! 

And that's how updates will be coming for the next 30 days, along with event announcements and etc.

Shatter Them Goals 

We are heading towards $24,000 very quickly, and let's talk about that means.

So we're at 90 robots in the box -- officially at the amount the previous campaign ended at! That's enough to make literally millions of different team compositions -- that's wild! $24,000 will likely be unlocked very soon, but it's up to all of us give it that push! What does $24,000 get us? This time, something different.

$24,000 - New Game Modes!

At $24,000, we're adding more materials to the box to accommodate all those robot pieces -- That means you're getting:

  • Extra terrain tiles to trick out your board! These tiles are double-sided and also used for...
  • A new game mode! Point Control! Game balancer Jesse Clark's favorite mode, which he is writing all about right now. This mode uses terrain tiles in new and exciting ways, as players compete to gathering points by controlling territory on the map! It also lets you use a team of 8 robots, and bring in new ones as old ones get destroyed! That's not all...
  • The game will be getting a fancy Player 1 chipboard piece to keep track of who's going first in Machine Chess! This mode lets you alternate turns while you fight, as you move one robot at a time back and forth. I personally like this variant a lot, and it keeps games moving quickly while changing the way think about strategy.
  • And everyone loves tokens, so we will also be including 16 extra tokens on top of the current 30 for tracking damage, stat alterations and the like. 

You can see the rules for these modes drafted out in our rulebook! (which will also be updated as the campaign runs its course -- sorry for misc typos!) 

All of the different game modes in A.E.G.I.S. can be mixed with each other - and a future update will talk about that! It's a Combining Game Mode Strategy Game!

And now let's take a moment to go over the backbone of the game.

AEGIS Basics: Five Classes

Classes in A.E.G.I.S. - Assault, Evasive, Guard, Intel and Support - are integral to the game. Each Class has different energy production levels, range of movement, and other proficiencies. For example, an Assault-Class robot would be much more willing and able to fight in the thick of it than an Intel-Class robot, and a team made up A-A-A-E-G will play very differently from a team of G-G-I-I-I. As of this update, you have 58 of these single-letter robots to build teams with!

Robots of different Classes combine in different ways to create robots of bigger and better proportions. With each Class of robot providing a different type of strategy and different potential combinations, it's all about giving you the tools to make the strategy that you want!

These robots are unpiloted machines from pre-historic Sigaea, controlled remotely by humans with exceptional talent. Their original purpose is long lost, and now they're used to wage battle for the defense of nations and control of the world!

      This update is great! Some of this info could go on the main page too. Before this I hadn't quite gotten a handle of just how teams could be formed from the various robots and how many robots of each level there were. This just boosted my excitement level!
