Polaroid update!

Posted by Giles Duley (Creator)

Dear supporters!

Greetings from Lebanon - I'm here continuing working with the UNHCR on the Legacy of War project.

For those who chose polaroids as your reward - you'll be glad to hear I'm working on them! Its taken me awhile tonfind a subject/story that felt suitable. I would never have taken polaroids on the beaches in lesvos or at a hospital for war wonded. However here in Lebanon, where I'm doing portraits, it seemed like a perfect opportunity. With each polaroid I'll be able to tell a little of the background of the Syrian refugees in the portrait.

I hope you like them. if you have backed for a polaroid and you'd like something different - for example a landscape - just let me know!

Hopefully I'll be sending these out when I'm back end of March.

I'll be sending details on the other rewards soon too.

Thanks again for all your support - I hope you'll agree that this work has never felt more relevant and it would be impossible without your backing.

Best wishes

Giles, I received my photographs about a week ago. The polaroid is of a small boy about 5 or 6 years old. Looking at it for the first time, I felt immediately connected to the boy in the photograph, it was like he was in the room with me. Polaroids are so incredibly powerful. Thank you, I'll treasure this one and always wonder how this boy's life turned out.

Hi Giles. I just wanted to check if you sent the polaroids out yet. I got a message asking me to confirm my address some while ago and I am pretty sure I replied to it but I didn't hear anything back.

Giles! Just want to leave a nice little message of positivity and support. I know how hard it is to deliver a Kickstarter and the weight of all those people who backed and are waiting for things. I know this is just some words typed into a computer and fired across the internet, but please ask the nearest person to you to pat you on the back. That's from me. Lots of Love from London! x

Thanks for the update. As you say, the timing couldn't be more appropriate. Stay safe.
