A Thief's Backstory - Chapter 1: Origins
My story is not a special or unheard one, it is just... life, typical life of an abandoned poor kid from Nabbarah. No support or help by anyone of the few people I knew back then, when I was young. Pain, sickness, desperation and hunger accompanied my very rough teen years, forcing me to do petty jobs for petty people, earning less than petty money..
I could withstand many things, but not hunger. Hunger meant disgrace and humiliation for a human being, and I was too proud to become a beggar or a slave to all these incompetent, unworthy wealthy scum of Nabbarah..
Naturally, hunger led to theft. Theft led to being caught and subsequently to the need to become stronger, quicker and quieter, using stealth and wit to evade arrest. Eventually, ambition drove me to become better and better at all the street skills like professional pickpocketing, theft, burglary, forgery. Improvement led to a tougher character and useful resources, both of which came very handy when I started buying out guards' silence or got to know important people within the city. But exploiting my talents in a small scale was not enough for me. I wanted more...
