About this project
New Directions Veterans Choir is recording its first CD. The songs were chosen to reflect the veterans struggles and triumphs. The music ranges from doo-wop to pop, gospel to Broadway, and beyond. The heart of the group pours out in each note with the hope that helped them survive, and the reasons to give a hand to others who may be going through tough times in return.
From their appearance on America's Got Talent to their first dates in performance across the U.S., these men and women are bringing their message of hope, and redemption, to as many people as will listen. The CD is a way to reach more people, to share the message in more ways than live performance only, and to make a bigger and better difference.
Every recording project needs time and money. Every singer on this project is giving of their time, but it's the money to pay for basic needs (studio time to record and mix, reproducing the CD, packaging, covering minimal professional fees - see the budget attached) that we need.
This project is summed up by a line in a song (The Flood) given to the Choir to sing by it's composer, Paul Williams, "When we sing together, we survive."
Risks and challenges
Producing a recording requires time and careful attention to the quality of the performances. If we can pay for an adequate environment to record, a professional system to mix, the skills required to do both, quality reproduction services and packaging services, then we can make and deliver a terrific product.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
