Now that the project for the 1st and the 2nd Askrias Cubes has been fulfilled, I still have some remaining cubes + tiles. So welcome to the 3rd Askrias Cube, shipping will begin straight away as soon as the project ends.
This time we won't be doing themes, each set will come with Icons with Blank text boxes, so you will be able to use your own 'reminders' on the stickers.
Below, will be the original Introduction of the Project...
Introducing: Askrias Cube
So today, I will like to introduce a project that I've been working on for a while - the Askrias Cube.
What is it?
Basically, the Askrias Cube is a plastic die frame that has slots on all 6 sides. Then the user will be able to insert tiles onto the different sides - therefore creating their own die for whatever uses they have in mind. What's better is that - the cube act as a normal die as well, you can roll it, shake it, toss it and the tiles will not fall out. However with a simple tug with your nails, the tile can be changed without much hassle.
What are the dimensions?
For the actual die frame, it measures about 2mm x 2mm. And the tiles itself will measure around 17mm * 17mm. The tile will have a rim around the indents to protect the stickers. And the final sticker size will be approx 14mm * 14mm
What comes with it?
As you can see, each "Set" will come with 2 die frames (you will be able to choose the colour for each set) and 20 tiles. This is combined by 3 different spures to make up the different colours.
So each set comes with 40 stickers, enough to allow the user to make 20 different icons of their choice. Of course, users can freely print their own stickers too.
What other things should I know?
The die frame and the tiles are all made with injection ABS plastic, and as a result they should be able to take quite a bit of pressure. The reason why the die is designed to have the tiles pop out is because it allows gamers to change the faces with extreme ease.
However, this does not mean that the tiles will pop out when rolled. I have been testing the die for a month, and even when rolling the die works like a charm (you can actually see me rolling it in the video).
When the tile is in place within the frame, it will sit nicely within the frame, so you won't need to worry about the tiles sticking out above the frame, making it unbalanced when rolling.
It can be used in dungeons and dragons games, or any sort of other games that requires token reminders. Also since Askrias Cube can be rolled just like a normal die, homebrewers will find it awesome that you will be able to create your own random trap which they can roll to see what deadly traps the dungeon has created for the heroes.
To make this a simple project - basically the pledge system will be that you will get a set of 2 frame + 20 tiles + 40 stickers of your theme for the base pledge.
Additional Sets are welcome! Please just add $14NZD for each set, there are no extra shipping!
Cube Frame Colour
Since this is still part of the Askrias Cube project - this is the last time I will be offering the Translucent Frames, in the future once I get an online store going, all cubes will be in solid colour.
Solid Black / Translucent Yellow / Translucent Blue / Translucent Red / Translucent Green
Risks and challenges
There will be no risk with this project, as there are extra cubes and tiles from the 2nd run. Shipping will being once the project ends (which should be completed at end April.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
