Forsaken Forest: Revival
You are a brave and emboldened explorer!
You set out to save your village from the clutches of a deadly plague, but in entering the Forsaken Forest you accidentally awakened an Ancient Evil.
As if it couldn't get any more grim, some of those who travel among you have already been corrupted by the evil that dwells in these woods.
Forsaken Forest is a social deduction card game set within a mysterious forest, inexplicably warped by dark magic.
In order to win, you must discover your team’s veiled Destination by traversing through an enigmatic and malevolent forest. But your enemies will do anything to get to their Destination first!
Of course, you can always Eliminate everyone who stands in your way. But be wary, for they may come back to haunt you for your cruel deeds.
On your path to victory, you'll need to manage your resources wisely, gain the trust of your very suspicious fellow travelers, and fend off the unimaginable evils of the Forest - which plays against the entire group! as it attempts to sabotage, confuse, and even kill the players in the game with debilitating disasters, crippling curses, and deadly darkness.
Players begin the game as either a Villager
Or one of the Forsaken
Your secret role determines your objective in the game - that is, which of the eight face-down Destinations within the Forest that you seek to navigate to:
And who you need to Eliminate from the game:
The Villagers want to make it back to their homeland - The Village - and vanquish their corrupted compatriots.
The Forsaken want to lead the group to the heart of darkness - The Void - and sacrifice the innocents in the name of the Forest.
The first team to either 1. Reach their Destination, or 2. Eliminate enough of the opposing team's players, wins!
Just remember that not all who wander are truly lost.
Included in the Kickstarter Edition of Forsaken Forest is:
21 Full Art Role Cards, 150 Travelers Deck Cards, 30 Forest Deck Cards, 8 Destinations, 8 Artifact Cards, 3 Night Action Cards, 144 Path Tokens and the Game Board & Rules.
In Rebooting the Campaign, creating cool and engaging Stretch Goals was our absolute #1 concern. We cooked up some really spicy ones for you!
I made it my priority to create add-ons that supplemented the game and added a new layer of fun, opposed to just completing the game.
Ghostly Guidance - The Community has spoke. No more sitting out of the game when you die.
While player elimination is essential to Forsaken Forest, that doesn’t mean that it has to totally remove the fallen player from the game. Players who have been killed in action (eliminated) become Vengeful Spirits.
When you die, you become a ghost, and actually get to stay in the game to haunt your fellow travelers! You may continue to talk to the group, but your turn is skipped, you cannot take any actions, and your hand is placed in the discard pile. You must close your eyes with the rest of the group during Night so you don't gain any unfair advantages.
Forsaken Games is hosting a new and exciting crowd-sourced contest. Kickstarter is going to design a new Forsaken Forest Card!
If you donate at 'The Chosen' Tier or higher, you'll gain access to the contest.
The Kickstarter Community Voted - We're making a Role Card who plays for their team! Their ability will interact with Vengeful Spirits and/or cards in Players' hands.
Only Chosen backers can vote though! If you haven't backed, now's a great time.
The final week of the contest will be a WRITE IN portion. You will choose the new Role's name and card text, along with the way they win the game!
Be a part of Forsaken Forest History!
Results for the fourth and final week will be posted on the final day of the campaign - July 1st!
You can unlock component upgrades by Following Forsaken Forest on Social Media!
(Lowered from the first campaign) The above reflects shipping prices for base game. If you're curious, please reach out for multiple-game shipping quotes for your region. On average, each additional game will add approximately $3 of shipping fees.
These are not estimates - they're the bottom line of what you will actually be charged for shipping.
We really dislike the high cost of shipping, and we REALLY want to help lighten the load for you amazing backers, so we're eating as much of the shipping costs as we possibly can in order to make the game affordable and hastle free. This has been updated and reduced even more than the previous campaign - we really want to make you an offer you can't refuse.
Unfortunately, shipping is not available in Brazil, Russia and Iran.
Forsaken Games put a huge emphasis on art when designing the Forsaken Forest. Setting, mood, and narrative are three things that we believe are essential to immersion within a game.
Forsaken Forest's amazing art was created by a team of 10! amazing artists, whose notoriety range from up-and-coming, to industry professional.
Christof Grobelski was the lead artist for this project. We expect absolutely amazing things from him. His visceral and gruesome style is accentuated by a seemingly impossible level of detail.
Chris Cold played the role landscape artist. He helped breathe life (and death) into the haunting landscape of the Forsaken Forest.
Kyler Nezin was instrumental in much of Forsaken Forest's graphic design and animation.
You can use this page, or the Art above to choose your art reward for the Forsaken or Collector Tier.
Up until this point, this project has been 100% self-funded. There's no question I would do it the same way every single time, but I have to say, it adds up. I'm very lucky to have had the resources available to fund the art and design, but I need Kickstarter, not only as a platform to get my message out there, but as a means to fund a great first print run!
The more copies ordered, the more realistic it is that I don't lose money on this life-long dream of mine. I really just want to share my game with as many people as possible, and Kickstarter will help ensure that it has a great head start.
1. First and Foremost, this game is my passion. I decided to pursue making Forsaken Forest a reality because it's a game that I truly love to play, and one that I desperately want to continue to expand upon for many years to come. I have taken part in countless play-test sessions, and played in almost every game possible, simply because it warms my heart when I lead unsuspecting fools to The Void.
2. Simply put, if you love social deduction games, but you're tired of monotomy and staleness, this is a game with massive replayability, and the design space to support many, many interesting expansions. Many people complain that social deduction games don't let you make many actual decisions - they don't feel like games. Forsaken Forest fills in those gaps.
3. This is just the beginning. There are so many cool and unique Roles, Destinations, cards and mechanics that I can’t wait to explore in future expansions, but you have to start somewhere. If you want to contribute to the start of an ongoing series, then you should hop on the carriage before you get left in the woods.
A special thanks from the creator!
Risks and challenges
This is my first official game and first kickstarter campaign.
So, why should you trust a player whose proverbial 'Role Card' has yet to be revealed?
My pillars in this campaign will be: 100% Transparency with the community, engagement with the fans, and willingness to implement feedback and adapt as a result.
To give you a bit of backstory about me, I've been a competitive gamer for most of my life, and I currently work in the gaming analytics industry. I'm a classic perfectionist and obsesser. I reached out to over one hundred artists before I found my team.
I have playtested this game into oblivion until I was happy with every single card and detail. I reached out to dozens of manufacturers and fulfillment services until I found one that clicked with this project. I've invested hundreds of hours ensuring that every aspect of this is perfect! This may be my first rodeo, but I've come prepared.
Forsaken Forest has actually been close to complete for almost a full year. I've spent the last few months (almost a year now) coordinating with the manufacturer, creating gameplay content, building steam on social media and, of course, perfecting the finer details of the game.
Typical Forsaken Response..
That being said, Chinese Manufacturers are known to have their faults. Delays are almost a given when working with them, but I'm confident that my pre-production work will help offset these delays. I'm hoping to impress you by delivering early.
More than anything, I care about the community behind the game, and I hope to see it grow immensely in the following years.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
