What is Curry Delights?
Curry Delights is an easy and simple way to help you cook an elaborate Indian meal at home in one hour. Perfect for a weekend meal with family and friends.
Every month we will send you a kit to cook one complete meal.
The kit has all the ingredients, a small shopping list for fresh items, detailed recipes and links to our online demo videos.
Every month we curate and test a new menu, selected from a huge variety of regional Indian cuisines. Each menu is complete with starters, mains, sides, rice/bread and dessert. Many of the dishes are vegetarian and gluten free.
Every dish on the menu comes with a story of its origin, an easy-to-follow recipe, photos and serving suggestions so you know exactly what you are doing at every step.
Once we launch in Feb, the kit will be available as a monthly subscription or for once off purchase.
How it Works
What is in the kit?
The kit contains a combination of spice mixes, raw ingredients and ready to eat packs. So you could get a spice mix for the chicken, a ready to eat snack, raw rice grains, raw poppadums, heat and serve daal, spices mix for the boondi raita and ready to eat dessert. The combination will change with every new menu.
Each item in the kit is carefully selected from a number of options available in the market. For instance we tested 5 different spice mixes for Butter Chicken and picked the best one based on flavour and ease of cooking.
Is the Curry Delights kit right for you?
We understand that the Curry Delights kit may not be right for everyone. Here is a quick test:
1. Are you a foodie?
2. Do you like a good curry?
3. Have you thought about cooking Indian food at home but gave up because it was too hard/too complicated/getting takeaway was easier?
If this sounds like you or someone you know, we hope that this service will leave you delighted.
Pledges and Rewards
If you are still reading, we need your support to bring this concept to life. When you pledge funds, you can select from one of the following rewards.
The first Curry Delights kits will start rolling out in Feb 2015. They will only be available to Kickstarter backers
Note: Pledging funds here on Kickstarter will NOT enroll you to a Curry Delights subscription. Once this campaign finishes, Kickstarter will collect pledged funds from you, deduct their fees and hand us the balance. We will use the funds to fulfill your rewards.
We will be able to accept ongoing subscriptions and orders only once our own website is ready in Feb.
Many of our friends love Indian food and ask us for recipes all the time. But the moment we start telling them about all the spices and unfamiliar ingredients, it all sounds too hard. So much easier to just order at your favourite curry house!
So how do we make Indian cooking easy without compromising on taste? How do we make curries a regular part of the Australian dinner menu?
Curry Delights solves the problem by guaranteeing a great tasting meal that is easy to make.
Guidelines for deciding on the monthly menu:
1. The food MUST BE DELICIOUS
2. All the dishes should come together in a harmony of flavours and tradition
3. A mix of classic favourites and new experiences.
4. The menu should be easy to cook and ready to serve in under 1 hour.
We've tested many spice mixes, easy to cook recipes and ready-to-eat meals to create the trial menu. The result is CURRY DELIGHTS.

Where we are now
The first Curry Delights kit is ready and tested by over a dozen different testers. We’ve improved the kit based on all their great feedback.
We’ve lined up product suppliers but we need volumes to make this work.
Our site design is done, complete with detailed wireframes. We have a great designer lined up and ready to start as soon as funds become available.
We need to invest in systems and processes for logistics, inventory and order management, rent warehouse space, design great looking and easy to use recipe inserts and source quality packaging so we can ship product to you with the confidence that it will not get damaged.
The pieces are starting to fall in place to make the Curry Delights kit a reality.
We’re down to the final barrier - we need your help to bring the concept to life.
We are reaching out to you directly to raise funds to set up the business.
1. This process will help us measure demand and see how many people will benefit from this service.
2. Curry Delights business model is based on volumes. Our wholesalers need a minimum order quantity to supply us with the quality ingredients we want at a reasonable cost.
3. It is fun! Hard work, but great fun.
If you have a project you are thinking of taking to market, Kickstarter is a great way to validate the concept and to test your own commitment to the idea.
How will we use the funds raised?
Most of the funds raised will go towards fulfilling the Kickstarter pledges and making sure all supporters receives their kits in February 2015!
The next big expense is the secure website with community areas and order management systems. Then we have to budget for Kickstarter and Paypal fees.
Any remaining funds will go towards cooking tools like demo videos and recipe cards.
If we exceed the campaign goal, it will all go into developing the website.

"I’m an Australian of Italian heritage and I love eating at Indian restaurants but generally stick to my well known favourites. As an enthusiastic cook I have enjoyed trying the new dishes in the Curry Delights kit at home with the easy to follow instructions. I have even ventured to my local Indian grocery store with more confidence to the astonishment of the store owner :).” - Paul Battaglia
“Loved the food. Took me around an hour to make the meal. Loved the idea of someone putting together a full meal, not worrying about what goes with what.” - Yong Lin Khoo
“I found it a really fun experience. It would be really fun to get a box like that every month and wonder what’s in it...wonder what we would cook up. I think it would be great.” - Tracy Marsh
“I cooked the Butter Chicken last night and it went really well. Julie was surprised that I could make a challenging dish like that all by myself :). Butter Chicken was sensational!!! …Food quantity was generous, should be ample for 4 adults…It was really nice experience to cook Indian - it was easy to cook and looked really good. With practice, you can really feel like an expert quickly” - Warren Brooks

Risks and challenges
1. This is a volume driven business. The greatest challenge is to ensure we reach a wide audience quickly in order to build a sustainable business.
2. We will be working with a number of different suppliers to source product. Any gaps in their supply chain would have an impact on our ability to fulfill orders.
3. Shipping costs form a significant portion of our costs. Any changes will negatively impact our profitability.
4. Courier companies can be unreliable. Delivery issues by the third party will have a negative impact on the overall customer experience.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
