Vegan Vend is a start up vending machine business offering a variety of chilled lunch and snack options, all 100% vegan. The machine will host a range of wraps, sandwiches and sweet treats sourced from carefully selected local businesses. Below, we will take you through the confirmed items that will feature in the vending machine (the products we offer will not be limited to this and we will be growing the variety of options as we go along).
For the first time, a vending machine will fully cater for, but not be limited to those persons following the vegan diet. This service will also be suitable for those looking for a healthier lunch or snack option without compromising on flavour.
This brings us on to talk about the locations of the machines. Vegan Vend will be starting it's journey in Bristol, UK. We chose here to launch the business because we felt like it was the perfect city to bring it to life in. We hope that after we've set up machines around Bristol, we can branch out to other cities and set up there so that everybody has access to delicious on-the-go vegan food.
We recently went out onto the streets of Bristol with free samples of the food that will be available to start with in the machines, hoping to get some thoughts on the idea and to spark awareness and interest. It was a really successful day and we got an incredible amount of positive feedback from members of the public both about the taste of the food and the idea of having an all-vegan vending machine.
Who and why?
My name is Remi and I am behind the business, Vegan Vend. The reason I wanted to create this business stemmed from myself finding it difficult to find easy and quick vegan food options that presented variety, choice and followed through on taste. It became apparent in my mind that this needed to change. I recently moved to Bristol to pursue this business. I work full time to pay to live in the city and any money after that goes towards the business and business preparation. Any spare time outside of my current work is dedicated to the business and building it up. My dream is for this to be a success and for all cities to have a place for Vegan Vend.
In an ideal world we would set this vending machine up ready for tomorrow, however we need our first machine to really begin this exciting new journey. Once we have our first machine up and running, we will roll out more around Bristol, and hopefully, once we have Bristol covered, we will take Vegan Vend to other cities where it will use the same model, but applied to that specific city.
To help us launch this business successfully, we need your help and support to make this happen. Please be a part of this journey and help make the UK's first chilled vegan food vending machine business happen.
Risks and challenges
Regarding this crowdfunding page, the obvious challenge will be reaching the target. We will be setting the target at the minimum amount we would need to pay for our first vending machine so that it is more realistic. In doing so, you will know exactly what the funding will be going towards within the business.
Regarding the business, as with any other start-up business, it comes with it's risks and challenges. The first hurdle is the cost of getting it off the ground and getting our first vending machine set up, which is where this crowdfunding page and your donations come in, in order to help jump over the hurdle without clipping our feet.
Another risk and challenge will be working out the right quantities of food to be ordered so it is cost-effective and so as not to create too much wastage, which for all food businesses is hard to predict. We are hoping that very quickly into the business we will be able to gauge what we will be able to sell and what sells best. We are hoping to team up with an local organisation to give any food that we know will be wasted to those who need it.
When creating a business where your brand values focus on creating a better and more sustainable world, we need to consider the packaging of the food. This is something that we will look at more and more as the business grows, to ensure that the products in our machines will fit with the idea of reducing materials that aren't going to be harmful to the environment - we will be looking at keeping everything in the recyclable bracket and will be open to suggestions to make our business the most planet friendly it can be.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
