A new card, a stretch goal, and storytelling with kids!

Hey friends! We are just moving into the second week of this campaign, yet it feels like it's been going for a lot longer. Things have been really awesome thanks to all of you! We're currently at 200 backers and over 50% funded! Thanks for the spreading the word. It really helps small campaigns like this one.

New Card
Each Monday we will feature a new card that has never been shown off before. This week's card is….

This was one of my favorites before it was even illustrated. Campbell did a wonderful job with it, as always. Looking back at our previous updates, I think this would make for quite an interesting comic. Especially depending where it fell in the story. Starting off with this would be pretty hilarious, and ending with it could be even better.

Stretch Goals
I'm putting together some cool stretch goals for the campaign. I have some low level goals, and some ultimate dream goals. I'm just trying to make sure they will work financially (we've priced everything low from the start) and physically (there is only a little bit of room in the packages to meet shipping thresholds). So here is an announcement and a teaser.

  • $12,500 - Goodbye, Writers Block sticker for all backers.

Here are a few examples of it in use:

And a small teaser for you.

  • $TBA - The ultimate dream goal… a mood die.

It will likely be given to backers at $25 and up (as dice are very expensive!), but available for all backers as an add-on. Still working up the cost, but I hope we can get there.

VIDEO: Children's Notepad with Elle (5 years old) and Trixie/Leon (3 years old)
My daughter Elle has been playing with the Children's notepad every night, asking to play as soon as I get home from work. I only have 6 printed cards here, yet she comes up with different stories each time. We made some video showing how the notepad can be used. My 3 year old twins also wanted to lay, but I think they are still a little young. You'll see...

Whoops! I meant to comment on the card. I like way this card is, with the burger in the cemetary. It certainly conjures up some interesting ideas, although nothing useful to my current story . . . yet.

@Jason - No problem. I like helping people. As to dice rings, they are sending out the pledges (other than the Life Counter Rings) this week (and Saturday of last which is when men where sent out). They said once the rings were out, they would be opening their store. Of course this may not be happening until the life counter rings go out, which is currently slated for August, so it might still be a while, but the store will be opening and they have an inventory to sell. If you haven't already you should go to their page and sign up to be emailed when the store goes live. Although I will probably be told on account of being a backer, I've done that already. I'm really very excited that these are coming soon (if you couldn't tell. ;) ).

@Solomon the stickers will be available as an add-on as well once if we reach that point. I think they turned out really cool, and I'm glad you like them as well. Pads and Pencils are available as add-ons now, just scroll to the bottom of the main page for information. I'll add some graphics there to make it stand out a little better. As for the dice, you can see 5 of the six sides looking at both dice. The final side is a shocked face, which you can see here: http://buttonshy.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-many-faces-of-storyteller-cards.html

@Marlena thanks for jumping in with the info. And yeah mood rings would be really cool. I was sad to miss out on that campaign when it was live.

@Solomon - That's already something you can do. The pencils are $1 a piece and the pads are $10. It's on the main page along with $7 for additional decks. And It looks like you can see five and a half out of six sides of the dice. I'm guessing those are also all of the moods that can be found on the cards.

@Jason - You know what would be cool? If you could get Aaron, the maker of dice rings, to make a rMoods for you. I'm not sure there is enough interest at present for him to do that, but I bet if you could, you would get a lot of traffic over here from people who pledged for the dice rings. Although, I'm not really sure what percentage of the people over there are as interested in stories as I am. I have dice rings on the brain right now, because mine are in the mail and I can't wait to see them. They are busy fulfilling pledges this week, but they have made special dice rings for at least one other project.

I guess that answers my question about revealing more cards and we even get a bonus image of the two of diamonds.

I was just thinking . . . would you also consider allowing people to add on additional pads and pencils as add-ons? To be honest, I wouldn't mind getting ALL the pencils, whether or not I want all of the associated pads, but I >would< like the chance to order additional Storyteller pads, I know. Just a thought.

The stickers are GREAT! I wouldn't mind the chance to add a few extra on, depending on the cost. Or, might you also offer a PDF of the image, maybe also as a stretch goal, so that we could make our own?

I like the dice too, although I'd appreciate seeing all the sides . . .

@Dennis thanks! They are the best. My editing skills could only capture so much of it, but I have a lot more video from where this came from.
