Welcome to HeroTec, an engineering firm that builds custom equipment for superheroes. You and your lab-mates will sift through a common stockpile of resources and plans, building items in your workshops.

Your benefactor requires four types of items: a gadget, a costume, a vehicle, and a lair. Players will race to be the first to complete the job, while also trying to build the best tech.

In HeroTec you must outfit your superhero client by first drafting cards (consisting of gadgets, costumes, vehicles, and lairs) from the Stockpile and placing them directly into your Workshop. There you will use the card for its resources (Circuits, Tools and Reactors), trying to build items for your Showroom.

Once a player has all 4 items in their showroom, it's time to bring out the superhero and see which HeroTec employee makes the best impression. Will it be the Personal Wormhole that wins their heart? Or maybe it's that sweet Volcano Observatory.

Each card is multi-use, featuring level I, II and III resources, as well as a special ability that allows you to build a very unique engine that will guide you to victory.

HeroTec is a two player game (expands from 1-4 with stretch goals!) designed by Duane Kolar with art by Fabrice Weiss (credits). Gameplay lasts about 30 minutes and is recommended for ages 10 and up. The game consists of: 18 cards, fold-out full color rules and our signature wallet packaging.

This is part of our Wallet Line and will be packaged in a small vinyl wallet, perfect for taking it on the go. It's pocket-sized, portable and protective... and has proven itself with our growing line of wallet games. HeroTec was originally entered into the 2016 Button Shy Wallet Game Design Contest and was one of 15 finalists (out of 72 other games including Kintsugi and In Vino Morte  from this campaign, as well as Circle The Wagons, Turbo Drift and and many other great games.

More new games!

Kintsugi by Mark McGee and Daniel Solis and In Vino Morte by Chris Anderson are both available here as wallet games for the first time (and at reduced prices too!) We also have a new Nanodaption by Nat Levan, called NanoTec.

Kintsugi - A peaceful 2-3 player game of tile laying, with a secret twist.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery with gold lacquer, to show the imperfect history of the object, and to affirm that it is better for having been broken. You are repairing a piece of pottery, then playing the role of an art critic for your opponent. You can win by being a better artist, being a better critic, or both! In true minimalist tradition, the lowest score wins!

Kintsugi was a finalist in our 2016 Wallet Game Design Contest.

Here's a preview of Kintsugi from the designers. This was submitted to our design contest and the end game has changed since the video was created, but the video gives a great look at the card placement and the overall tone of the game.

In Vino Morte - A 3-8 player social party game.

Print and Play (coming soon) | Prototype Rules

You've been invited to a top notch dinner party, and the host offers you a glass of wine. Do you drink it or pass on it? As your neighbors drop like flies, you need to press on, and most importantly, stay alive.

In Vino Morte was a submission to our 2017 Wallet Game Design Contest and was published in a smaller 8 card version as part of our Board Game of the Month Club. After a lot of great feedback we're bringing it to the wallet line.

"At the Granite Game Summit, we played this game late into the night on Saturday of the convention. Game after game became funnier and funnier as feuds were formed, trust was broken, and the most hilarious and unpredictable deaths occurred." -Gamingforjustice.com

NanoTec -A superpowered nanogame by Nat Levan

If you've been following along, we've been releasing Nat Levan's Nanodaptions for many of our games. These are even smaller interpretations of games that are already pretty small. Nat doesn't just make the game smaller though, he takes the essence of the game and makes something all new, with just a few cards.

Here we have NanoTec where players will twist their workshop card around while trying to claim one of each type of technology for their showroom. Just like the larger game, there are some great combos that will emerge.

REWARD LEVELS

See below for each of the reward levels. Note: These prices are discounted for the campaign.

ADD-ONS AND STRETCH GOALS

HeroTec is playable with the cards and a few coins for tracking (4 per player). But if you want to go all out you can add the custom HeroTec Token set for just $3. It comes with 16 laser cut tokens.

And we will be announcing the 3-4 player stretch goal, for HeroTec and Kintsugi ASAP!

WHAT IS THE BOARD GAME OF THE MONTH CLUB?

We have an awesome following of repeat customers. As a result, we've built the Board Game of the Month Club, a subscription service where you receive unreleased microgames, promo cards, expansion content, a micro newsletter with industry interviews, and big Kickstarter discounts.... every month. Supporters will receive from $1, $2, $5 to $10 off of EVERY GAME. Details here: http://patreon.com/buttonshy

Risks and challenges

Releasing games each month has established a groove with the manufacturer. We rarely see delays on their end, but we can see delays before it goes to the manufacturer. We are spending time making sure the rules are 100% right and you will be invited to join in on that process.

With a lot to juggle and it being mostly one person, we will occasionally see delays. A few previous projects were a little behind schedule so we've adjusted our schedule accordingly. Our July project has fully shipped with just a few missing packages remaining at this point.
