WHO: 'Quodlibet' is a fitting name because it really is a joy to bring together musicians who specialize in early music, new music, and everything in between. As the biography states, we started as a group of friends who share a desire to make good music happen. It has been a yearly tradition, exchanging ideas and putting together a program that is exciting and thought-provoking.
WHAT: Bringing the members of Quodlibet together isn't easy, as the musicians all manage multi-faceted careers. But we managed to secure a time together in May, and we are thrilled to finally have a chance to put what we do on a CD! The album would serve as a way to share the music we make with people who would not be able to attend our concerts otherwise. Sessions are scheduled at Drew University and plans are already underway. We have always enjoyed playing Corelli immensely - a selection from his Op. 6 Concerti Grossi has made an appearance on every one of our programs, so we thought bringing those together for our first CD seemed appropriate.
THE MONEY from this campaign would cover the musicians' travel, recording engineer fees, and probably most painful of all, instrument rental and moving costs. Extra would offset the cost incurred by the musicians during this project.
WHY: The musicians of Quodlibet Ensemble put in a great deal of effort and energy, they travel considerable distances, and they do this for little or even no money. Words do not properly describe the level of dedication towards this project. We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from friends, family and our fans. We sincerely hope to be able to continue to share music as Quodlibet Ensemble for years to come.
