UPDATE: Author Submissions are now open!
Redshift will be a love letter to the classic sci-fi radio dramas of the past. Shows like Dimension X, The Whistler, the BBC sci-fi radio of the 1970s and other shows brought famous and upcoming sci fi authors of the times into the homes of millions of people, opening minds and exposing people to forward thinking stories and fantastical worlds of imagination. We want to carry on that tradition.
The first season of Redshift will be 6 episodes of all new productions, using local Twin Cities actors as well as authors both local and national, perhaps even international. Each month will bring a new production, available for free on FancyPantsGangsters.com, and with it behind the scenes material, author interviews and perhaps even unique art pieces devoted to each new story.
You can download the pilot episode featuring Steadfast by Michael Merriam here or stream it below.
- $4200 - We will create a high quality version of each episode, fully surround sound and in lossless format.
- $5500 - Comic artist Brent Schoonover (The Phantom, Batman '66) will produce 6 custom prints, one for each episode of Season 1.
$10,000 - We will extend the season to 12 episodes, covering all of 2015.
Who We Are
Fancy Pants Gangsters started in April 2008 as a group of like minded radio exiles and their friends doing the shows they wanted to hear. Evan Pedersen, Redshift's producer (among other duties), has over 10 years of radio experience on top of founding FPG and having a hand in the creation of nearly 1200 podcast episodes so far.
Risks and challenges
Scripts and stories are being submitted and a core group of actors has already been assembled. We have found a great partner in Houndstooth Studios so the actual act of recording will not likely be an issue.
Since everyone involved in the creation of Redshift is also subject to the joy of day jobs and family obligations, our biggest obstacle is time. Keeping a monthly schedule should give us plenty of time to create shows that you will enjoy without destroying the minds of those involved.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
