Arist Home is Almost Ready

71 Personen gefällt das

Hi Everyone!

A lot has happened since our last update and we’re here to bring you some EXCITING news! Ready for the BIG news? Arist Home Edition is READY!!! That’s right! You didn’t read it wrong. Before we get to the meat of this update, we really want to apologize again for the delays and how we've handled communications with you all. We promise we will be keeping all channels of communications open and you will always know what we are doing to get Arist Home shipped to you.

Originally, when we were developing the Arist Home for manufacture, we came across some tricky technical problems, such as miniaturization of the modular components. At the time, it was estimated to take an additional 18 months to get it ready for production. That’s why we proposed to send out the Arist Professional first and pay for the shipping fee if our backers wanted to swap it for Home Edition when it is ready.

Shortly after we made that announcement, we had some breakthroughs when we were preparing the Arist Professional for manufacturing, which has now allowed for us make Arist Home happen now and not in the future.

To ensure Arist Home can be delivered in a timely manner, we are focusing our efforts in safety certification as this is the key area for more unforeseen delays. We will keep everyone updated on a monthly basis of all progress we make.

Before some of you start questioning our credibility and say “this is just another tactic to delay the shipment date", we would like to show you a video demonstrating how Arist Home brews a perfect cup of coffee.

Finally, our sleep-deprived hardware engineers can go home and get some sleep for now! Hopefully drinking too much coffee does not keep them awake for long.

As you might remember, we have already released Version 1.3 for iPhone users this March. All versions of the Arist app will be released this November. It’s taking a bit longer than expected but we are determined to create a delightful user experience for all users. We’re doing the best we can to speed up the progress and further details will be released in our coming updates.

  • iOS: Version 1.3 > Version 1.6
  • Android: Version 1.3
  • Windows: Version 1.0

These are the final specification of Arist Home:

Some changes might be made to fulfill special safety certification requirements (if any), but we are confident that Arist Home has met most of the mandatory requirements for validation of safety certification.

Before we move into mass production, we have to obtain safety certifications where Arist will undergo a series of tough testing to eliminate any safety concerns. We’re currently applying for the following safety certifications:

  • UL982
  • UL1082
  • FCC
  • FDA - approved
  • CE mark (EN60335, LVD etc.)
  • ROHS
  • CB

Arist Home will ready for mass production after we have obtained all the safety certifications we need. After that, we’ll be sending Arist Home to all our backers.

As a token of appreciation for your continuous support, we will deposit an amount of credits which is equivalent to the value of your Kickstarter pledge into your Arist account. For example, if you pledged US$299, you will get US$299 in Arist credits. These credits can be used for purchasing coffee beans, recipes and other accessories. In other words, Arist Home will be sent to our backers as a gift. We will release more details in an update in September.

We hope you will be satisfied with these arrangements.

Coming back to this, I would love an option where I could get the Pro version instead of this new Home version. Aside from the app, I have a machine that does 98% of this... the milk container and dual beans was what brought me to back this program....

Ok, so, I'm trying to understand : we propose to ship the pro version few months ago, without giving more details. Then, you said home version is ready and you will add credits to each backers account as compensation. Am I right ? It's a good deal but... is it the last ? Will we really get Arist home machine in april/may ? Thanks.

    3. Hussam Jaber am September 19

I was wondering if i can still get the pro and not the home edition ?

lol, yes, +1 what Dac said - that's exactly the deal.

So many comments sections (I mean on different projects not just here) blow up with wailing and gnashing of teeth about their 'investment' (nope, reward, for money you *gave away* to make it happen) broken 'promises' (nope, estimates; invariably well-meaning but unfortunately quite unrealistic), heartbreak about no longer wanting the item, etc

Come on folks, step back for a moment, nobody 'needs' an item that never even existed before on some specific expected schedule. If you need a coffee machine earlier rather than later, there's all kinds of cool ones on Amazon and in the shops. If you get one of those now and the Arist eventually turns out better, or if it doesn't (!), either way you have a nice instant gift for your best buddy ;)

Now, while I do think they're trying their best to do right by us, it does look like perhaps this project could well under-deliver, compared to the original pitch; but hey, that's KickStarter. If you can't handle the fact it's kind of a gamble, and you're not in it mostly to try to change the world etc, just back the projects you like for $1, read the updates, and when (/if!) they're done, buy the widget for the slightly higher price, totally risk-free.

Lastly, peace and love - I know how it's all too easy to get all worked up and start banging on the keyboard (we've all been there) but please try to chill when it comes to the personal attacks, it's unhelpful, and mainly just reflects badly on you, and has little to no effect on whomever you're having a go at ;)

@Brandon: Under Boiler/Compressor it shows heating water volume (ml) 110.

I really wish to have a coffee machine with milk container so its fully automated. Can i have the professional version instead of the home version

    8. Brandon am September 1

@Chris E you need to chill out a little and not let Kantapat get to you.
@Kantapat Srichantmamit There's no point in spamming the boards with your random and non-productive comments. I don't think they're doing anything for you.

    9. Brandon am September 1

@JB Designs I believe you have Max water volume confused with "Max Cup Height". 110mm is roughly 4.3 inches. I think it would probably take 13 minutes to fill your travel mug; assuming that you're having all espresso shots. I believe if you were to have an Americano it'd be much quicker.

    10. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 28

      @Chris E.
This problem with me and Nilson and Benson chiu not you. I ask because i think you protect them. First time he present with old type it mean he calculate and think can do. so we dual with this old type. but when change until now can't fixed everything what meaning. it fake he show he has new investor $3million for support. why he not refund me. which he promise in update #26 on 15 Dec 2015. now i try to inform this case for take action form arist team. not fake with me.

    11. Chris E. am August 27

@Kantapat try to look for my name in the list of the team if I'm one of them you embossed carbuncle. Like really, is that how you think about everyone who gets annoyed of stupid complaints and rants. "Hey you're part of the Arist team 'cause you're against my complaints!" Fuck. Is that how stupid you are? Not everyone here agrees with you. And don't bother to respond 'cause I don't fucking understand anything you've said in your last message. The only thing I understood was that you think I'm one of the team. Bullshit.

    12. JB Designs am August 26

Will this even be able to brew 'coffee'? Max shot size is 75 ml, that's an awful small cup of coffee. Looking at the numbers above, max water volume of 110 ml, even for a 6 oz americano it'd take 7 minutes? (4 minutes first cup, plus 3 minutes cup to cup.) To fill my travel mug (at least 12 oz.) would it take 13 minutes?

    13. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 24

      @Chris E.
Yes my English language not strong. but i think you is one of this team
please understand in update#26 show on 15 Dec 2015 it has my name that he promise to refund why this time 8 month. he not refund.he luanch has new investment. and in early update show about manufacturing. Schedule change everytime that i can't believe them. this time nearly 3 years it showed or not? First time it show prototype why he not production. this my question but you protect them so i think you is one staff in this group.

    14. Chris E. am August 21

@Kantapat YOU LOON! I don't want your pledge and I don't need two coffee machines you schmuck. And I don't care if you're short of money. That's not my problem. You should've thought about this before pledging the project. And since you can't counter argue with me, you're boring me.

But just do everyone a favor and stop complaining about your fucking money. Stealing means taking your money or something from you without your consent and them not showing their faces again. But they didn't take your money without your consent. YOU GAVE THEM MONEY TO HELP THE PROJECT. And they are still here giving updates.

Stealing is a very heavy word. Don't accuse the Arist team of stealing your money. You technically risked your money to fund their project. Read the Kickstarter policy. And if that's too hard for you to understand, get a Thai-English translator.

    15. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 19

      @Chris E.
Do you want to buy this from me or not? I ask you because i think this project stole my money but if you this it can do. You can buy it from me.

      Hi (Sorry for my English)

      1: Thanks for the update
      2. Really, after reading i was like O_O ???

Ther are a few difference between the new and the original specifications.

1 Single bean container versus dual
2 No "refrigerated" milk container, not milk container at all
      aso aso

      Some questions

1 is ther a WIFI OFF button
2 what happened to the chocolate dispenser
3 really 3 minutes between each cup of coffee ???

One of the reasons i backed the Arist was the built-in milk container.
We backed a coffee Machine, but now we will get an Espresso maker

The only Machine that comes near the orginaly backed Machine is now the Pro Version.

    17. Chris E. am August 17

@Kantapat. Take DAC's comment. Couldn't have said any better. But really, you are complaining too much just because Arist don't send out updates as frequent as they should be. Bullshit. Let me tell you this, the DYLN project never sent out updates for maybe half a year or more until the product was ready to be delivered. NEEO doesn't send out updates as frequent too. On the other hand, Mighty No. 9 sent out updates almost every week which fucking annoyed me as hell. But yea, really? You complain too much just 'cause they don't send out updates much or that because they're so delayed, maybe? And yea, 2 projects... Why don't you try reading Kickstarters policy somewhere?

And yea, how about backing more projects more than just 2, and you'll see what I'm talking about. These startup companies will never deliver their projects on time. Some will be delayed for a month or two, some will be a year or more. Some of them will be on time, majority will be not.

And if you already knew that $300 is the amount of your salary for a month, then why would you go over and back a project that is beyond your budget? Are you not that stupid enough? Hey, you know there's no cure for being stupid even if you go see a doctor.

Lol. These comment sections are always filled with people who clearly don't understand how Kickstarter works. When you created your account and pledged money, you agreed that there was no guarantee of you receiving the specified product or even any product at all.

If I were Benson, I would have actually just said "fuck these people" and taken the money with no consequence. The fact that Arist continues to try and make things right by offering us more and more is incredible. Now our machines are practically free? That's amazing.

But guess what: even if the whole thing is a scam and you're out $300, that's on no one but yourself. That's how Kickstarter works. I've pledged something like 130 projects and this is just a common theme in all of them. It's the price you pay for embracing new and untested technologies.

If you don't like it, then never use Kickstarter again.

I allready have a machine that froths milk and grinds fresh beans, one of the reasons i backed the Arist was the built-in milk container. Im starting to wonder what separates the Arist from the machines you can already get at your local home appliances store. So far, NFC seems to be the only innovation as other machines have Wi Fi and apps.

      See for an example:

    20. Tyler Seitz am August 16

Well done on getting a working machine. As a backer I am disappointed to learn that many of the original promises of the design are not in the Home version on the arist. I was looking forward to having 2 sets of beans and the milk storage built in. Without the milk storage I still have to get up and go to the fridge to make my latte in the morning, to me most of the purpose of the machine is gone now. What happened to getting the professional edition? Can the professional edition store two kinds of beans and milk? Kinda happy about the credits, but would likely rather have the professional one if it held milk.

    21. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 15

      @Chris E.
I support for 2 project in Kickstarter. 1 is Trunkster Luggage. it use same time 1.5 years. but he show about timeline and process this time he can delivery only carry type but i understand i not has problem with them project. $300 is 1 month salary staff in thailand. I can't give for scam or bad person.

Thanks for the update. Sad to hear about the design cuts. Im sure you have your reasons. Appreciate the store credits.

If you are considering giving backers the option to chose machines (not sure where the discussion comes from), count me in on the next version. No matter delays, extra backing ($) or what ever it might require.

Btw, it feels really messed up that I can't (with the current specs) brew a simple 250ml mug of coffee for my wife or parents with a $300 dollars machine, I know it's not the intended use but having to keep my old coffee machine around just for that is really annoying. I mean, isn't this even the "Home" edition?

    24. Avatar fehlt

Fábio Mallaco Moreira am August 14

Guys, firstly i really appreciate your efforts in communication and the difficulty of such project.
That said the current specs are not up with what was announced at the funding, just as the product was not as ready as it seemed like. It's very frustrating to wait so much for a finished product and even more to see it being downsized. Further more I was almost excited with the possibility of receiving the professional machine, considering it would probably be better than anything I could find or buy where I live. Having that option removed without even asking is tremendously disappointing and even disrespectful considering the specifications of the home version. I would like to have an option for the professional machine even if it meant not receiving the credit in the Arist store, and i would expect the Pro to be delivered in the same timeframe as the Home edition.

    25. Chris E. am August 14

@Kantapat. Yea right. Well actually I've backed nearly 30 projects! And guess what, only several of them were able to deliver the project on time! Which were Penxo, A Life of Vinyl Clock, XKchrome, and I Draw Manga. I've backed projects that even now, still haven't delivered from the original timeline. The current one that I still haven't received and is 1.5 years late is the NEEO remote. Dylan Water bottle was delayed too. KeeWiFi is delayed too! Mighty No. 9 too was late, and when I received it, was never up to my expectation. But I never complained. 'Cause this is a crowdfunding project! You don't buy it, you technically help them fund the project so it becomes a reality!

And guess what, no one complained about those delayed projects as much as you do. As much as people here do.

I wanna ask you Kantapat, how many projects have you backed here on Kickstarter? 'Cause clearly, I don't think you know how backing a project from a startup company works in a crowdfunding site.

Just do us a favor, once you get your refund or your pledge reward of whatever the fuck that would make you please, don't ever try funding a startup company again from Kickstarter or on any other crowdfunding sites.

    26. Fei Jing am August 14

I'm with most people on the option of having the pro version as promised previously. The specs now clearly don't match what was originally promised. You can't keep flip flopping on your commitments. By offering pro to your backers who waited 3 years was a nice gesture, now you found a way to back track on that. Please try to commit to this offer you presented to us.

    27. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 14

      @Chrise E.
I support this project because it show for 6 months can deliverly not 3 years. Please understand
and Cradit cards charge finished. This project promise for refund my money in first group from Aug last years. this 1 years pass but don't has any action. You think this update timeline?

same questions and concerns as the other backers. Would the pro still have the second bean container, cooled milk container etc. How does the cleaning of the milk frother work?
A comparison of specs pro versus home would be great and giving backers the choice between the two.

Thanks for the update - I continue to have faith that you will deliver a great product.

Given the differences between the current home specs and the initial specs would you please consider adding the option of a pro machine without credits.

It would be great if you could supply a detailed comparison of the pro and home models to allow me to make an informed choice.

      Kjetil Koksvik am August 12

      Nice update, thanks

I am missing some information in the specification.

      Tamper:
      Minimum tamper pressure and resolution
      Boiler/Compressor:
Brewing temperature when water hitting coffee grounds Min,Max, resolution
Brewing pressure in puck, Max, Min, resolution, stability(Max fluctuations, spikes etc.) and accuracy.

      Some general considerations:
I see that brewing time is a bit long 5min for first cup. I guess this is not a big issue as you can initiate the brewing cycle remotely. I am however a bit concerned about forgetting my espresso and finding it cold on the brewer at a later time. An adjustable alarm on the phone would solve this issue("Your espresso will be finished in 1 min etc)

A bit disappointed regarding the capacity of the wast tank, my current fully automatic has at least room for 20 pucks and I sometimes feel I am a slave of this machine. In addition to the full sensor a counter visible on the app at all times would go a long way in mitigating some annoying situations when brewing 2 or more cups at a time. 3 minutes between brewing cycles is long enough not to delay it more by having to empty waste tank in-between. Having the counter you would know to empty waist tank before starting the brewing.

I am also a bit concerned about the shot volume, as a lower limit 25 is just about right, 20 would have been perfect for me as it could compensate for som less than perfectly roasted beans. The max shot volume of 75 is in my opinion not enough for a regular coffee (Norway) or a Americano. Please consider increasing this to the full extent of the heating chamber 110 at-least. Dumping a bit of colder water at the end for these kinds of coffee would be a welcomed possibility.

In the video the espresso extraction seamed a bit chaotic and uneven, my guess is that the settings was not a major consideration when getting this update out. Would love to see a video of the Arist brewing a nice single espresso with nice settings into a clear espresso cup.

Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen.

Hello; thank you for the update.

The reason I invested into the project was for the milk container as well as the 2nd coffee bean container built in. I want to be able to switch between regular and decaf beans. This is a very significant change in functionality. You did not even mention this in your update. Will you provide us with a choice of the pro machine, assuming the pro machine still has this functionality that we originally backed?

@Kantapat. You can go fuck yourself. Are you always here to complain? If you're gonna criticize something, make it productive and not just talk trash. 'Cause clearly, right now, the way you deliver comments is stupid. Oh. And that makes you stupid. Fucking troll.

    38. Victor am August 12

Hey Arist team, first of all thank you for the detailed update and addressing our concern of not getting timely updates.
Personally, this update makes me happy again and hopeful about the product. On the other hand, I do understand all the concerns other backers bring up in their reactions. Key word(s) is "managing expectations" and I hope you will be able to keep a focus on this important task.

Somehow I am still confident that the end result will be a great espresso machine with nice features. Keep up the good work and...the more updates, the better! take care

    39. Clarence Lim am August 12

Glad to finally hear another update but little upset with the delayed timeline yet again. I was very much hoping that in this update you were going to ship us the professional version as promised last time. I believe i speak for most of us that we would prefer to have a product to use rather than the store credits. Also, it seems like the specifications of the Arist Home have changed quite a fair bit and I think for me the biggest problem would be if the milk steamer doesn't self clean it is going to be a big mess. I've been a avid supporter but this update was kind of disappointing for me.

    40. Kantapat Srichantamit am August 12

Good effort gentlemen, and is exciting to see a product, but I am with others for this one. I would prefer the pro vision to this home product, and second if I read it correctly delivery isn't till earliest in January? I think at this point, you should offer us an option of going with either the home or the PRO version. I would like the benefits of both listed. I am ok with the no milk container but that frother/steamer will be very messy to clean up and I can see it breaking alot more as it has to go up and down.

Nice update at last :) Thanks

      Just 2 comments:

      1) You could consider the option that Malte suggests
      2) Will all backers receive their Arist e.o. this year?

    48. Ross Jones am August 12

I'm with Malte. I appreciate the hurdles, but we backed a certain product and what looks like will be delivered is a very much cut down version of that.
I'd like to see what the professional spec is, and have the option to have that one, if it comes with the spec we were told.

    49. Ronald am August 12

First of all: thanks for the update, the video and the apology!

I've noticed a couple of major difference between the new and the original specifications. Maybe it's simply not clearly indicated within the new specs but it would be nice if you could clarify this and preferably put the original and new specs next to each other. It might not always be 'good news' but at least we will know what to expect.

      Major differences I've noticed:

      - Single bean container versus dual
      - No refrigerated milk container
      - Static tamping force versus 0 lb to 40 lb
      - Pressure of max 10 bar versus 15 bar

      Some additional questions/concerns:

      - is grind size and coffee quantity still configurable
      - what happened to the sugar/chocolate dispenser(s)
      - will it really take 3 minutes between each cup of coffee

Can you please clarify these items.

    50. Malte Sussdorff am August 12

Here are the current very obvious differences between the original plan and the Arist Home. I would like to get the professional version and no credits if it meets the original specs better.

      - Bean choice options: 2 compartments vs. 1 compartment of 250g size
      - Tamper pressure went down from 40lb to 15kg
      - 1L Water, 1L Milk turned into 2L Water
      - Drip Tray down to 300ml from 1L
      - No Water Filter

Without the 2 bean options and the milk tank the Arist would be a useless design object in our kitchen.
