      Interestingly enough, another kickstarter I was supporting (laser powered razer) just got kicked off kickstarter for not having a working prototype. Hmmm. Seriously beginning to doubt the kickstarter platform if some projects are getting vetted, and others like Arist, who still can't actually show us a functioning machine have been allowed to take the cash and run. More fuel for the upcoming lawsuit I guess.

    2. Martín Pérez-Guevara am October 13, 2015

      @Arist I also asked for confirmation of my refund request several times already. Can you at least acknowledge my request here or by emailas you did with @Ryan Abramow.

      Glenn am October 12, 2015

      @arist No, as I explained earlier, 100% refunds are your only option. Your attempts to appear a legitimate Kickstarter that investors simply lost out on continue to prove a failure.

      You are not making a coffee machine, you are only trying to manoeuvre yourself into a position where you can pretend to have been a genuine campaign that fulfilled Kickstarter T&Cs and thus keep our money. But fraud is fraud, and you are found out.

    4. Dave Pekala am October 12, 2015

      I'm still waiting on an answer to my question... You would have had to spend the same amount of money to get this far regardless of if you were funded at 100% or 50,000%. What is the reasoning for reducing the refund?

    5. Rob Henst am October 12, 2015

      Benson, you said that if fewer than 200 backers request the refund you were prepared to refund up to $120. That would be $24.000 that you said you are prepared to spend. Divide that by the full Arist pledge amount: $299 and 80 people can get full refunds. There are less than 80 people that have requested a refund. Thus you should be able to fully refund all the backers that request a full refund.

    6. George am October 12, 2015

      @Arist: you are always ignoring and playing with your backers. Your replies in the comment section do not add ANY value as it never clarifies what people ask. You know that of course, but as always, you never choose to communicate properly as there is nothing to show.

      1. You never release ANYTHING about Arist

      2. And you play (thinking that you are very smart) with the refund deadline and the so called 'big update' which is going to be another massive fail based on your 10 months failed track record.

      To summarize: your words and actions dont have ANY credibility

Tools ? Prototypes ? App Development ? If you are willing to improve your communication with us, please do so, or else I treat it as a Fail. And of course, Benson, I need your Full Refund.

    9. William Wong am October 12, 2015

      Without any production updates, only financial snap shots and also patent issues for 10 months, of cause your backers get impatient.

    10. Arist Projektgründer am October 12, 2015

      @Ryan Abramow
      Thank you for contacting us here. You request is confirmed.

      @Rodrigo Gomez
      Thank you for your comments and we respect your decision to have made the minimum pledge to continue taking part in our project.

      @Glenn
      As stated and explained earlier, full refunds are not an option right now.

      @Christian Schulte
      The update we posted late last week was just a quick update to clarify some numbers. The Big Update will be published at the end of this week.

      @Aleksander Tõnnisson
      Yes, communicating with backers has been more difficult than we planned. However, that is only a part of our job which backers see on the surface. The majority of our time is spent on producing the Arist.

      @Marcus Sit
      As explained earlier when we decided to man the comments section again, we want to give better communication with backers another try. The refund request process was never initiated by us, but was spam requested by impatient backers. We are super serious about delivering the Arist to everyone and have only offered the partial refund in response to some of these requests. We are not ignoring our backers.

    11. Ryan Abramow am October 12, 2015

      So I have not left many comments here but I have sent these guys 3 message and 2 emails requesting my refund. NOT EVEN A RESPONSE!!!! These guys are either total crooks or morons, but I think they might but a combo of the two. At this point, I hope they just go to jail for fraud...this whole process has been a joke. The one thing this did do for me is help to look into anyone I decide to back and not believe what projects are promoted.

      Personally, I think Kickstarter is at fault here for including this project under "projects we love" and they should be ashamed. Has anyone been in contact with anyone from Kickstarter?

      Merci!

      A lot of us pledged to this project the minimum amount just to prevent you from this situation. At that time we were treated like bozos and here you are.

      WE TOLD YOU. It was too good to be true.

      I lost my money with an espresso machine, a smartwatch and other projects. Kickstarter is an accomplice with fraudulent people/companies.

      There is nothing you can do in the USA, they steal your money. Threats, bad words, insults are well deserved by the creator (thief?), but these don't solve anything.

      Anyway, good luck.

    16. Christian Schulte am October 9, 2015

      @Arist: Was this the BIG UPDATE you promissed?

    17. Aleksander Tõnnisson am October 9, 2015

      It's absolutely not acceptable how you f...k with you backers. Not to mention the fact that you have not responded any of my e-mails. Your stated number 29 is not even close to a real number, looking at the # of people who wrote in comments that your e-mail bounces and they request full refund.

      I requested full refund and now you think it's up to you to decide that it's going to be $100 - $120. I will not accept such refund and will initiate fraud case through my bank. Had similar experience with another project on got my money back.

      You guys are a disgrace for the whole maker community ... and all you had to do was to communicate with you backers.

    18. Marcus Sit am October 9, 2015

      @Arist. Wow... what an surprising update from you. And with this updates, you are certainly telling the world you have run out of ideas already to hide your secret. From the previous comments, other backers are giving you once and again chances to sort it out, but you simply ignore it, and now came up with this fantastic update. All I want now is just a Full refund from you Benson. Please don't disappoint me, and I shall treat this as my last good will. I would have no hesitation to co-operate with Police or other Authorities to destroy this shameful project.

      This pretty funny. I'm guessing their exciting solution was to have 200 refunds, at 100 dollars each, which would cost them 20,000. Then the remaining 2300 machines would cost 425,500 to make. So 445,500 is pretty close to the 441,120 number that they have projected remaining. What's funny is that 1) by this math, the more there are refunders, the more they will fall under the line and 2) if there are only 40, then even the 100 dollar refund would not move them below the line. Basically the break even point is that at 2384 backers, the 116 refunders would get pennies.

      So TLDR: The refunders are helping them get under budget. LOL.

      @Wei most credit card companies are processing chargebacks for their customers. Call the number on the back of your credit card and explain that they were unable to hit their advertised shipping deadline and that they refuse a full refund. They will take care of you.

    27. William Wong am October 8, 2015

      So they have set aside roughly 200K+ for refund (based on what they said about 200 ppl at $299 asking for refund, while with 1400 backers at that tier). And that number matches the "remaining balance " from their last update. What coincidence. So someone is ready to close the books say sayonara. First time to hear a thieve who is trying to go logic with you when it comes to stealing your money. If this is not a scam, i really don't know what it is.

    28. Wei Huang am October 8, 2015

      That's really really partial, I waited because I believed in you guys on the delivery date, and I expected about 250 dollars back after KS and credit fees. Now I just think I should have done a credit charge back instead of having faith. I'm very very disappointed by the way the refund is being handled.

      Arist lied about where they were in production, they lied about abilities, they lied about outside funding, they fraudulently showed us a machine that ended up not being made, then switched to another design, then back to the original. They didn't follow kickstarters T&C's and thus, are a fraud...
      My credit card company recognized this, I recognize this - even Arist recognize this.. Remember the backers that received full 100% refunds from Arist (even though Benson will still claim they didn't give them, and it was kickstarter... however kickstarter said they don't have the power to do that...(http://aristscam.com/arist-gave-me-a-refund/)
      Arist can do 100% refunds.. Wake up people!! dont settle for 30% of your hard earned money from these guys!

      @Arist you already spent only half the funds. Which means I will not accept a refund for less than 50% which is the half you still have. If we are only 29 people demanding the money you should offer far more than 50% back. This is truly offensive.

    38. Martín Pérez-Guevara am October 8, 2015

      @Arist I did not receive even confirmation of receiving my refund request email even though we are only 29 people, and I asked twice. @Arist how difficult is just to reply to an email with one sentence after 5 days. Moreover this refund amount is a joke, and you did not clarify the case of contributions of 349$. But I guess basically is less than 30%... Seriously this behavior is just like a scam.

      People, even if we stay in till the end and choose to receive the product, I don't think the coffee machine will be a quality product. I bet will function less than a year of frustrating "magical" coffee making experience.
      The way I see it it's a failure already...lost-lost situation.
      Just think about it how frustrating will be after such a long wait and finally when (if that) we get the machine it's a total lousy product from Arist team.

      @Raymond - For one, I don't really buy that people bought 22 or 25 thousand machines from their website. That's a lot of orders for a website that they didn't even do advertising for. Even assuming that did happen, those are funds that should be considered separate from the KS funding. Although, you can argue that due to timing (they received those pre-orders before they even finished developing the machines), they should be allocating a proportionate amount to the 22-25 thousand (I thought it was 25?) of the development costs up to this point to the pre-orders. Which basically would make the KS portion 1/25 of the costs. All of a sudden, the financials look good again!

    47. Raymond Stone am October 7, 2015

      Hi Everyone,
      Thanks for your invaluable comments. You’ve provided so much good advice on how to improve communication to keep everyone involved with the whole project. As mentioned before, we have already made plans to do just that after the mid-October update with some big news. But from your comments, we’ve gathered it might be too long to ask you to wait. To show our good faith in an attempt to slowly become more transparent, we will publish an update tomorrow to clarify some of the questions derived from the previous update.
      For those of you just joining us, the project is still in progress. We are still working very hard to ship Arist to all our backers. Thank you for hanging with us!
