About this project
It all started as a joke. I tease them that French cuisine is the best, and three Italian boys couldn´t resist the challenge to prove me that the Italian one is. I am Stephanie, from Bordeaux, France. I spent over ten years in hospitality, and well, actually most of the places i worked for were Italian
We are Davide and Alessandro. we met in the US a year ago, both from hospitality and entertainment background.
I'm Ivan, Alex's brother. I have a degree in film-making from Rome's Cinecitta Studios
While visiting my brother, i couldn't resist to get on board and i decided to join the team making it a web series focused on the travel and the experience you can get from joining a dining table.
We will be driving more than 10,000 miles on board of our Sebring convertible, spending 2-3 days in each city.
- Washington,District of Columbia
New York City,New York
Salt Lake City,Utah
- San Francisco,California
We will approach people at the supermarket, local flea market, and with them we will discover where they enjoy their Italian lunches, and we will cook with them some Italian "prelibatezze", the way we would do in Italy.
In our espresso moment, we will brew literally "on the road" and espresso with the traditional Italian moka Bialetti, We will spend an "express" view of the city listed over a quick coffee.
We will keep a blog updated daily with pictures, status, bloopers and recipes.
We already planned most of filming locations and ingredients stock for more than half of the project, mainly on the east coast. The main expense will be for fuel, around $3500. Lodging is arranged mainly on couchsurfing basis, but availability outside the big cities is limited and we have to opt motels for our staying (for around $1800) The movie will be shoot with a Canon 5d Mark III, with Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM II optics. We still need some accessories, flycam and shoulder mount, and especially a more precise microphone, which weights another $1200. Also, as a crew of three will have to eat for over a month and provide 20 dinners for 20 families during our trip, which will increase the budget of another $2400. For the post production costs , we estimated another $1800 to $2500, for the final product in full show documentary and as 20 seven minutes webseries episodes.
With your help we are going to make it great!!!!!!!
Risks and challenges
At the moment our biggest challenge is distribution. Through the web we have many channels on which we can promote and establish a considerable reach. Our focus will be into fitting it as a weekly news insert or similar, as a product for the US audience, as well as a product for the Italian audience.
Another challenge is given by our budget for the post production. We rely on help from friends, and friends of friends, which prioritize higher stakes projects, and so lead to delays in the first episode being aired
We might be up driving all night and sleep as it comes We might not have time to shower. We will definitely be eating good food tough. For Sure, I'm not a CHEF, I'm ITALIAN is going to happen!!!!!
