Rebirth is not a recounting of good vs. evil. It is not a story of how the virtuous shall overcome the corrupt. It is the story of survival in a world dominated by predator civilizations fighting for existence in a realm created from the shambling remnants of mankind.
275 years after the end of the world, the land of Kreyo stands divided by seven war-torn nations. Each nation falls under the rule of one of seven great necromancers. The seven who brought a dying mankind to its end. The seven who poured demonic power and new life into its husk. Sar'gon the Diplomat, Nahrun the Student, Narcon the Inventor, Reuce the Surgeon, Kre'uul the Murderer, Daerrus the Master, and Fae'el the God. Each nation is represented by their own culture, a reflection of their necromancer's reason for betraying humanity.
The corpse of humanity rose as the demonic power coursed through their veins, reanimated and reborn in the image of the mankind they replaced.The reborn of Kreyo appear no different than man, except for the mark of their necromancer scarred into their right hand. Cursed with the free will of their predecessors, the reborn fight for survival, glory, fame, riches, power, or whatever they desire. Free from the bonds of sleep, the reborn are not controlled by the waning of the day, though they are not free of the burden of required nourishment.
Playing the Game
Rebirth is a tabletop role-playing game determined to grant diversity to the players, allowing them to navigate a broken world. With 14 base professions and 24 advanced professions, Rebirth rewards diversity in party creation, shedding light on often forgotten roles, such as support and crafting, making them almost essential to the party's survival, and breathing new life into the ever-present fighters and charismatic manipulators of the role playing genre.
The setting is a dark world, constantly at war both on the bloodstained battlefield and behind the political curtain. The theme of the game is resource management and is displayed through the combat, currency, and crafting systems, rewarding forethought and preparation.
Teamwork and flexibility are integral to survival in Rebirth and one of the major appeals of the game. Mastering synergies between professions can be the difference between life and death. The gladiator, a melee based fighting profession, becomes exponentially stronger when supported by a prophet, a support profession that deals self-inflicted damage to drastically increase the abilities of their allies. The gladiator becomes even stronger when using powerful artifacts, weapons imbued with special abilities such as life stealing attacks, created by the artificer, a crafting profession focused on the creation of artifacts. Unique and in-depth professions allow for complicated synergies between party members.
Players can accomplish tasks and solve problems using various methods, ranging from manipulation and stealth to crashing headfirst through sealed doors, at the discretion of the GM. A balance between impromptu role playing and an open combat system helps to create a campaign that with both thrill and test the players.
Rebirth has a unique combat system appealing to resource management, using “events,” points used to make actions such as attacking or using an ability, to force the players to think in advance. If a character spends all of their events in one round, rampaging across the battlefield, then their defensive score is reduced for their lack of defensive preparation. The opposite is true as well. The more events that a character saves, the greater their defensive score becomes, making them harder to hit.
The combat system uses feet as the measurement for distance and can be played on either a grid, or using free movement. We suggest the use of a grid, with each square representing 5ft. However, the decision is ultimately decided by the GM.
Character Customization and Creation
The book is written in an order that represents the character creation, beginning with attributes, followed by skills and professions, and ending with equipment creation.
The character creation system utilizes nine attributes that make up three “attribute trees,” body, mind, and spirit. A player will choose their character’s primary attribute tree and secondary tree on creation. A character receives bonuses to their primary and secondary tree, as well as bonuses to all skills governed by attributes in their primary and secondary trees.
There are 30 different skills, each governed by an attribute, that allow the character to craft incredible equipment, persuade nobles, hide in plain sight, etc.
A character will choose their base profession upon creation and will remain that profession until level ten. Once a character has reached level eleven, they must choose one of two advanced professions to become. Advanced professions highlight an ability or trait of their base profession, further focusing the character’s abilities. For example, the politician is a base support professions that grants buffs to allies and debuffs to opponents through speeches. The figurehead, an advanced professions of the politician, expands on the ally buffing ability of the politician, granting them stronger supporting speeches. On the other side is the bureaucrat, the second advanced profession available to the politician, which expands on the opponent hindering abilities of the politician, granting target crippling speeches. The maximum level for a character is currently 20, ten levels in a base profession, and ten levels in an advanced profession.
Characters choose "gifts," passive and active effects that grant bonuses to specific abilities or attacks. Their are currently 30 general gifts that can be chosen by every character. Each profession also has eight unique profession gifts, only accessible to members of that profession.
With a flexible equipment creation system, players can create any weapons or armor needed to create the character that they desire using reference charts.
How difficult is it to play?
All that is required to play Rebirth is the core book and a basic understanding of the rules. After the release of the core book, we will continue to release additional content on a monthly basis, adding professions, skills, lore, and more. This additional content will be using a Patreon system that will go into effect on the release of the game. Major additional books will continue to be released at irregular intervals.
The time required to create an NPC or a character can range from 15 minutes to one hour, based on the player or GM's familiarity with the system.
What we are working on now
The Rebirth Team is currently working with our artist to create the beautiful works for Rebirth that will populate its pages, and testing the balance and minute mechanics of the game, smoothing the creases. Raised funds will be used to fund the art of Rebirth, advertising, and testing.
We will ship copies to contributors outside of the United States, though we will not be able to cover the cost of international shipping.

Risks and challenges
The creation of this world has been a difficult two year process, testing the creativity and commitment of our developers.
