Kinetic Makeover is a new dance work by Milka Djordjevich premiering at the Chocolate Factory Theater April 10-13, 2013.
I am seeking to raise funds for the production costs associated with my latest work, Kinetic Makeover, premiering at The Chocolate Factory Theater in NYC April 10-13, 2013.
All of the funds raised through Kickstarter will go directly to pay composer Chris Peck, lighting designer Madeline Best, costume designer Reid Bartelme, and Rebecca Brooks for her work as an outside eye, as well as paying for the cost of studio space, equipment rental, videography, and other materials.
We could not do this project without your support. Your donation -- large or small -- will help us reach our funding goal.
We hope to see you at the performances at The Chocolate Factory Theater!
Kinetic Makeover is a dance solo giving power and autonomy to one body. This body attempts to produce various images through the self-imposed task of repeatedly and compulsively moving. Perpetual action is a means for change in order to establish a new way of seeing and being. The various thresholds of the body are revealed through this self-directed persistence. Actions oscillate between being repetitive, mechanical, mundane, sustained, hypnotic, energetic, aggressive and euphoric. The act of doing is always in negotiation of the past, present and future. The dance is an attempt at the here-and-now, a never-ending effort that ceases to exist. The work is a reimagining of the body and its potential, what it represents and how it exists.
Commissioned by the Chocolate Factory Theater, NYC and developed at Performing Arts Forum (pa-f.net), the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Swing Space and Workspace Brussels, Belgium.

A new dance work depends on a creative team to make the dance visible and enlivening for others. I will creatively and resourcefully tend to any obstacle if it arises. I've worked on a variety of projects where I've had to deal with a variety of setbacks and have successfully come up with solutions to move forward. I am fully confident I have the tools and skills necessary to deal with any potential setbacks.
